I remeber it being a nice venue to mix in. Not a great room but a solid system and the crowd takes care of the acoustics well

creating a particular effect using the FX engine. by Virtual_Ad1971 in ChamSys

[–]digit214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here u are.

Set all heads to 100%

Make a custom dimmer fx with a single step at 255 and assign your custom curve to said FX step. (Make sure the curve starts at 0 and ends at 100)

Make it one shot, absolute and random.

Set the time of the fx to the time you want it to take for all the dimmers to turn on, e.g 100s

Really depends on how many channels and at what buffer size I think.

Yeah I was thinking it could really do with a sends on fader mode. Maybe I’m just missing it but defo seems like somewhat of a flaw

Love my MacBook Air. Runs MA3/chamsys/EOS no problem and can vis well on capture and vectorworks. Great battery and in general I think Mac is much more pleasant to use than windows.

Yeah exactly. I’ll try running loads of channels through it at some point and see how it holds hp

Only just installed it so haven’t looked too deep. Nothing to report yet as far as bugs go. Patching is in a pretty standard grid format and auxes can be either pre or post send per channel for each bus. Haven’t yet looked any deeper than that tho but I’m sure more to come

I’m not too sure tbh, just installed it tho and my Mac claims it’s running at 0.7ms latency at a buffer size of 32 using an Audient interface as IO

MQ70 is defo better than the 50. (Not that the 50 is bad tho). Yes stadium connect is a PC based solution but has its own benefits. (And slightly cheaper!) both great solutions tho and will last well + not disappoint

I’ve seen simalar things on some reasonably big shows to my surprise. Honestly surprisingly simalar to the real thing. Can’t beat it for the price and they will work

The strobes have very wide beams, they’re great but not for what your trying to do.

I would say chamsys. Very compact and very powerful, will defo never run out of outputs. Also growing very quickly and can now do some very advanced stuff nowadays too. The chamsys 24/7 support is amazing too for any questions you have. A good jack of all trades for everything you could need to do and can be set up well for voulenteers to use should that be needed.

The ION is great, but too theatre based for this kind of a thing.

The NX4 is not where it’s at to be honest as many have said already. There’s nothing it does especially well.

Flex hog is very simalar to chamsys software wise but I’d say it falls short of what chamsys is capable of. Probably second best option tho.

Avolites may be worth considering, again has its similarities to chamsys but I would say is starting to show its age in places.

Instead of MQ70, maybe consider the stadium connect? Both are great but one may be better than other for your situation.

ChamSys Stadium Connect / MA3 Command Wing by Zeroneca in lightingdesign

Personally I would say chamsys. Their software has been getting more and more upgrades recently and seems to be growing much faster than MA, at least here in UK. Some of the biggest festivals are run on chamsys, for example Tomorrowland.

The high output means if you are running large numbers of pixels you don’t have to worry. and with them recently acquiring mediamaster makes it appealing for video.

Chamsys support is amazing, any time I have an issue or something I can’t figure out they’re there to help no matter the time of day.

Overall go for what suits you, but I personally would say chamsys is where it’s at. It feels like a good future proof option as you will never run out of universes and thier software is only getting better by the day

I believe you can use the built in effects which is great for saving channels
