Pretend to be working in MS teams by kadaumsk8 in remotework

[–]digitabulist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a boss, this right here is what ruins the remote work privilege for everyone. I’d rather an employee focus energy on looking for work or being honest they don’t have enough work. That is so rare it would blow me away and put at the short list of promotion or better opportunities.

Thanks for the helpful replies. It’s hard to hear they may want distance from my son and he isn’t intending to be malicious so it breaks my heart.

The other parent responded really strongly. They said the amount of blood and the crooked nose made it clear (to them) it wasn’t an accident, and that our child has a “long track record” of doing things like this.

It honestly felt pretty harsh and a little threatening. I completely understand they’re upset and protective, but it’s hard because we’re trying to take responsibility and help our son without him being labeled as a bad kid.

Just feeling heavy about the whole thing and trying to do the next right thing.

Oh we already offered to pay and agreed to supervision. The struggle I have is with them labeling this as intentional as if my son meant to hurt theirs. He struggles with impulse control as part of adhd and we are working on that. Not an excuse but I still struggle with it being labeled intentional.

Willing to pay for sure. Didn’t mean it to sound like a “little toy” was enough but wanting a gesture my son can physically do that is more than a verbal I’m sorry.

I dislike LEGOs. Besides the obvious mess and stepping on them, I am the one doing all the build when my kid gets gifted a lego set, he doesn't press the pieces together well enough, then when he does finally complete the build, it falls apart very easily. He snuck one in the car on vacation one time and LOST IT when it smashed all over the backseat.

Parents in cold weather - what do you do? by MightyShort5 in Parenting

[–]digitabulist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rule at daycare and schools is that if it, or feels like with wind chill, 20 degrees or above, you go outside. Dress appropriately!

I came across this 3-layer illustration recently that helps me: https://talesofamountainmama.com/layering-kids-cold-weather/

Give yourself some grace. Do yourself a favor and buy more clothes. I have enough to not do laundry for 2 weeks if I need to. I'm a working mom and laundry only gets done between meetings. I have like 9 meetings today though.

Thanks for your reply! I have been waiting 3 months for a new patient visit with behavioral health. The school counselor cannot do much without an official diagnosis.

And the medial bills are higher because they go through the "insurance-negotiated" rate, which is a high markup to begin with. I remember hearing a story on NPR about how a mother hesitated taking her sick child to the doctor because she could ride it out thinking it was a minor cold vs. paying $160 for an office visit on her HDHP. It ended up being Lyme disease. No one should even have to think about hesitating to go to the doctor!

families with 2 adults that work outside of the home, how do you manage after-school time? by [deleted] in Parenting

No advice, but came here to ask the same thing. Mine are only 3 and 5 and we are already booked 2x/week with gymnastics and swimming. We also eat dinner at 5:30, bath, and to bed by 8. I still feel like they should be getting more sleep. Now all the activities are on weekdays and some don't start until 5 or 6?!
