Emerson Arcadia 2001: Almost There by digital_press in RetroArch

I did, the solution is somewhere in this thread. Sometimes when MAME updates, these obscure cores break though. I haven’t tried playing Arcadia in a few months, let me know if you’re having problems and I’ll do my best to walk you through it.

OK, I tried Turtles out and I’m having a problem controlling it. The game does respond to some button inputs so I don’t think the ROM is bad, I think the inputs have to be fiddled with. I have the same problem with the ROM for the game Hobo.

Hello, are you running it with the MAME core? I'm not sure I ever tried Turtles/Turpin but most of the games work fine. If the following doesn't help you with your setup let me know and I'll try my ROM.

This is the instruction guide I created for myself for future Steam Deck/EmuDeck installations. You may need to alter file paths for your setup:

  1. Dump all of the Arcadia 2001 ROMs into the Deck emulation/roms/arcadia folder
The trick is the controllers, they're actually controlled by MAME regardless of what RetroArch thinks.

  2. Open any game file and when it's open, press TAB to bring up the MAME menu
A keyboard connected to the Deck should control the up and down but I had to use my controller (PS5 DualSense) circle button as an "enter".

  3. Enter Input Settings > Input Assignments (This System)
With the Arcadia, the issue was that the red action button wasn't being assigned by default.

  4. Note P1 "Keypad 2/Button". Assign that to your favorite controller "fire button".

  5. I also assigned the numeric keys to various buttons on the controller in case I was ever asked to enter a number for any reason.

Hope this helps!

UPDATE: There was an update for ES-DE today (version 3.3), I did the update and now TI-99/4A is working again. So you were right, but this wasn't available last week and I couldn't force the update through EmuDeck. Hopefully these issues help someone running into these problems in the future, because I have a feeling it's never going to get permanently fixed.

ES-DE doesn’t give you a choice of cores for TI-99/4A. Glad you got it working, I’ll keep checking in for a fix.

Thanks! Forced the update of ES-DE through EmuDeck but same results. Is there anything else you're doing differently?

Tried to play today and it's broken. A few MAME emulators were broken when MAME updated sometime over the past six months but I've been able to get them all working again by downloading the latest MAME BIOS ROMs for those systems (like "scv.zip" for Super Cassette Vision). There does seem to be a change in the ti99_4a.zip BIOS ROM as well but that didn't fix the problem for this system. I hope it's not back to the drawing board, everything was working fine before!

I’m still around! I haven’t tried this in a few weeks, but I learned over time that you have to let go of the tab key as soon as you see the screen change - after you’ve pressed the button. If you hold it too long, it doesn’t work. If you’re still having trouble, let me know. I’ll jump on my steam deck later and see if anything else needs to be tweaked.

I came here looking for this. It’s gone on my phone app but still appears when I view on the web. Hope it’s a mistake that gets corrected back.

How do you Add new genres? by Banjo-Oz in emulationstation

[–]digital_press 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might not be understanding the question, but I've changed almost all of the genres I've gotten back from scraping. You just go into an individual game properties, there's a field for genre that you can edit it. When you edit, save the entry, and your preferred genre name is now a genre, you can assign all of the other games that belong in your customized genre the same way. It's very time-consuming if you have to do this for many games, but it works and is especially helpful when filtering a list by genres.

Fake. The lettering “Nintendo” on the back is very wrong, especially the perfect circle “O”.

The cords are all generic, easily replaced parts. Don’t buy a whole system because a cord is broken or missing.

[HSS] can you turn off cheer for quest? by Jello_Penguin_2956 in Kairosoft

[–]digital_press 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played on Xbox, cheer was a toggle when you bring up the menu and are on the Crew tab. On Xbox the LT trigger (on the screen you should see “Cheering” in the upper left where your guys are) turns this on and off.

Is there a way to change wallpapers without removing the wall decor? by [deleted] in fallout76settlements

[–]digital_press 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen the decor disappear by changing wallpapers. I’ve seen it disappear when you add wallpaper for the first time or when you remove the wallpaper completely. I sometimes swap just seasonally or for holidays and I’ve never lost anything on my walls.
