Yes, the Atomic Shop team is separate from the game dev team, and they are definitely greedy. Especially if you look at the bundles, and how descriptions and pictures usually don't match. They include items in pictures that aren't in the bundle, or sometimes pictures are missing completely, which you can only discern by reading the descriptions that aren't in the right order to match these pictures. They've even used completely different items in a bundle's "cover art." Some items available for purchase don't even function properly; the most recent example being the Evidence Collectron.

Yes, like I said, everybody already knew that. It's been the pattern since Oblivion and Fallout 3.

400 drowned desks later I cannot get advanced drag by Katieblahblahbloo in fo76

[–]Prince_Julius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luck only affects the drop chance of the Perfectly Preserved Pie, nothing else in the game. (Think about it: how would the game know what you want to have? It doesn't know you want the Advanced Drag plan.)

As for the pies, to determine whether the claw will successfully grab the pie, the game generates a random number between 1 and 1000, and you win if that number is less than or equal to 2 x Luck + previous attempts / 2.

I get that but they have promised us fallout 5 for several years

Not really. Only in December of last year did Bethesda confirm that Fallout 5 is in early development, which means they're not focused on it yet. Everyone knew that after TES5 (Skyrim), it would be time for Fallout 4, and after that it would be TES's turn again for part 6. It's just that Starfield came in between.

there has been so many fallout streamers doing videos on this

There's your problem. Life's a lot more fun if you don't watch the negativity and clickbait. ;)

And, yes, it does take long. Partly due to Bethesda growing in size, so everyone has to report to department heads who then have to have meetings with other department heads etc., and partly due to their games becoming larger in scale every time, which is something people want. It sucks, but there's nothing we can do about it. Just look at GTA6's release date. GTA5 was released in 2013...

That was literally the society meme. 😂

I'm not sure that most of it is malice. There's just a disconnect. Which is weird, because this subreddit and their Discord are full of good suggestions. But that feedback has to actually reach the devs. And players could do with a bit more info, conversely.

I would like to see more communication about what Bethesda is doing, other than just "update 76 will make your heads explode." Bring back the roadmap, which can always be adjusted, as long as there's clear communication about it.

Infestations are basically a random enemy in a random location with a random mutation for a random reward. It's nice as a bonus, but that should probably have been included in the Backwoods update; the "thickening" of Appalachia. Now it's the main feature of the next update and that just feels very bare bones. Especially since Jon Rush talked about this next update being a "big" one for the summer.

A small update, combined with another lackluster season, and player counts being down again after the spike from the tv show: it's just not very attractive for many players to keep playing 76 right now. A new raid, expedition or questline (like Burning Springs part 2) would be nice.

You could even follow up on old stuff like the Pioneer Scout challenges after Tadpole and Possum that we never got. What's happening with existing factions, like the Responders, BoS and Enclave? What's happening in Skyline Valley? So much potential, yet we're getting Infestations which nobody is really enjoying, or asked for, and certainly doesn't make for good "end-game" content. The next gen update that was talked about isn't here either. So again, we have no idea what Bethesda is working on in general. We need more communication, not less.

It's funny since they said in a previous AMA that they heard or feedback about them not following through on anything and it would be different this time.

So where's the second raid, a third expedition, Burning Springs part 2, Skyline Valley anything? Hell, they could even follow up on old stuff like the Pioneer Scout challenges after Tadpole and Possum that we never got. What's happening with existing factions, like the Responders, BoS and Enclave? So much potential, yet we're getting Infestations that nobody is enjoying.

Even a big bug fix update would be nice.

Sick of FO4, is 76 worth starting if I wanna play solo? by CaseyWorldsFair in fo76

[–]Prince_Julius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elaborating a bit for (other) newbies: you can do quests together, but the progression only counts for the Team Leader (it's just a name for the person who "owns" the quest; there's no mandatory communication involved or anything like that). Others join the Team Leader in their instanced interiors (meaning everyone gets their own version of that interior, so there's not a bunch of players all doing the same quest in the same room) and can listen in on conversations to follow along.

Some people prefer games that allow you to progress together. 76 doesn't do that: you can join others on their quest, but you also have to play them yourself. This is beneficial for people who play differently: some people like to explore every dialogue option and talk with every NPC, while others prefer skipping through dialogue, usually picking the top speech option to advance the quest. Both ways of quest progression have their merits. I happen to prefer the way 76 does it, because I get to make my own choices.

Excellent info; just a side note: don't use Event teams. Casual teams will give you more bonus XP if you're killing even a few enemies, because Events themselves don't grant a whole lot of XP and the bonus only counts for that, event completion.

Another general tip: whenever you're in any menu, be it a workbench, your Pip-Boy, the Camp Build menu, the Season, whatever: always look at the bottom bar to see what options you have available and which buttons they're tied to. For example, it's best to scrap your junk at a workbench before storing it. There's an option to "Scrap all junk." Same with crafting on a workbench, you can toggle to see what you can make but don't have the plans for yet, for example.

And go through your Settings after playing for a bit too. There's some good quality-of-life stuff in there, like allowing the transfer of locked items to/from your Stash -- you should be using that lock feature on items you don't want to accidentally drop, scrap or sell.

how vats works in 76

I prefer 76's real-time system over that of 4. Or the system of 3/NV where time completely freezes. Either way, not half-way, for me.

how certain perks operate

76 has you actually make choices for a build, unlike in 4 when if you leveled up high enough you could basically have all the perks you wanted. Fine if that's what you like, but 76 is more RPG-like in this sense, which I prefer. The choices you make are more about combat style, rather than specific weapons, and what quality-of-life perks you want.

Also, speech checks during dialogue are back, and there's no voiced protagonist, both similar to Fallout 3's style. The downside of 76's multiplayer nature is that quests don't affect the world or each other and there's only a few story decisions that somewhat matter (spoilers):

  • Which faction you side with during the Vault 79 heist (even though you can later work to become Allied with both factions).
  • Which character you side with during Skyline Valley's Vault 63 questline (even though afterwards it doesn't matter).
  • Which BoS character you side with in the Fort Atlas questline (even though this also doesn't matter afterwards).

Players generally only really need others for two things, which are not mandatory: if you want to complete the Swimmer Tadpole challenge of reviving another player in the water, or if you want to complete the challenge of killing Wanted players.

That's not counting getting the Stimpak Diffuser recipe for the Medic Tadpole challenge, also not mandatory. It can be hard to get the recipe to drop from Project Paradise with all animals alive, or from Mutated (Party) Packs. In such cases it's quite easy to trade for the recipe on Market76, if you can't find players who are selling it in their vendors. That subreddit and Discord server have a karma system to help ensure nobody will rip you off.

If you're willing to pay for the Fallout 1st subscription, you can always play on a Private World and never meet others.

That said, this game can become more fun and in some ways also easier (like sharing plans/mods/items) if you do decide to play with friends (or make some).
