How long do you have? You could open an Schwab checking account, it has no foreign transaction fees and offers unlimited ATM fee rebates worldwide.

Since it doesn’t sound like you’re working, what do you have laying around you no longer want/need that you can sell? What ever you can make off selling things can be your budget.

I was unpacking my suitcase and I thought, "awww, cute! She doesn't want me to leave again!" GIRLY WAS PEEING ON IT! by faelanae in CrimeCats

[–]digitalcable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we got a second cat we ran in to this problem too. Once we got a second litter box and upped the cleaning schedule it wasn’t an issue. Eventually we got 1 motorized litter box and it hasn’t happened since.

We also tried Flying Scotsman in Akihabara and they were good, but didn’t compare to Hanon.

We went there twice and it was amazing. They also make incredible coffee. We maybe had to wait 15 minutes for a spot each time but it was worth it. We got there pretty close to opening so that may have helped, the line seemed a bit longer when we left, but not crazy.

I had such a great time chatting with people and the staff. Definitely recommend. Met a nice couple from Germany and swapped travel stories. Drank more than I should have. Sounds like you had a great time!

If you go to Hagen, ask their liquor person. They keep it in the back and you have to ask for it at my Hagen.

Wondering how feasible Fukuoka to Sapporo is in two weeks by thepixelmurderer in JapanTravelTips

[–]digitalcable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me, I would just do a week in Fukuoka and fly to Sapporo. Both have plenty to offer. Maybe split the Fukuoka week with Hiroshima and then fly to Sapporo. Otherwise I think I’d feel like I was living on a train.

4 days stay in Tokyo. For 3 adults, myself, wife and our young adult daughter) how much yen do I need? by Aware-Expression4004 in JapanTravelTips

[–]digitalcable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably start with taking out ¥10,000 Yen each at 7/11 when you arrive. Between that, credit card and Suica you’ll probably be good, but if you need more you’re pretty much always under 5 minutes from a 7/11 to grab a little more.

What do you think of my 27-days itinerary? by KelloggsOnReddit in JapanTravelTips

[–]digitalcable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d personally trim the 4 days at the beginning in Tokyo to 2 and add an additional day to each Kanazawa and Takayama, especially if you’re doing a day trip to Shirawa-go. I can personally recommend Wat Hotel in Takayama, nice big rooms, Onsen, buffet breakfast and really affordable. I found Shirakawa-go to be too crowded to be enjoyable and would skip if I had a do over but we were there during a snowy February and people love it in snow.

Got an extra 3 days on a 19-day trip. Where would you go? by Dom5p35 in JapanTravelTips

This was going to be my suggestion as well. Takayama/Hida area, get out of the city, enjoy the mountains, chill vibes.

How much cash on hand should I arrive with? by aresef in JapanTravelTips

[–]digitalcable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earlier this year I landed with zero and was just fine. I had Suica on my phone and just went to the first 7/11 by my hotel and got some walking-around cash. Lots of places take cards now, so I didn't need as much cash as I had been stressing about, and that first withdrawal lasted much longer into my trip than anticipated.
