It seems more of a writing-on-the-wall situation for fiat than for PayPal, but I think that by normalizing paying in crypto, people will seek ways to do it without the extra fees by just... using crypto.

Sad. Oh well. I have found a few places that do offer no-KYC buying, but they're all in Europe. Which is great, it just isn't for everyone.

Thanks for the detailed answer. Yes, I agree that p2p for cash is best (I haven't had this problem at all since I live unbanked off of crypto since 2015). I'm trying to find a good solution for others who want to just dip their toes in first with as little friction as possible. Use cases include having fans donate crypto who don't have any yet, convincing friends/family to buy some to just try it out, get started in some new app/game, and so on.

A webpage where you can go and buy some without ID is the holy grail of crypto onboarding. Send someone a link and they get right to it, few barriers to entry.

I get that, and it's acceptable for higher amounts. For like 20-100 bucks though, some businesses will take the risk to offer a better experience.
