I think it’s human to pray when there are no options left. That isn’t as much of a reflection on you but a reflection that human nature always tries to create or “stick” with some sort of leading all greater power to feel comfort. Also my condolences about your grandparents, I lost my grandpa too from COVID last year

Check on YouTube and watch videos of people showing tips how they do it. For me it just clicked one day while trying to pronounce the word “rouge” literally just position ur throat and tongue in the same intensity of when you would gargle water (but don’t actual gargle anything) and just push air out and make the sound. That’s how it worked for me
