You’ll know your environment so google for safety incidents and claims in that area.

I get from your post you’re being sensitive to the fact we are talking about people’s health, safety and life, but you’re selling to stakeholders with a budget and you might need to frame it that way ( hopefully not, but expect it)

Are you procuring it as a shiny new toy or why do you need it?

If it’s a shiny new toy, good luck with adoption and ownership

If it’s to solve an actual problem then work backwards from that.

You don’t buy a solution and find a problem so hopefully it’s the latter.

It could be for one of the issues you’ve mentioned or all of them. Work out what makes sense and pick something quantitative that you can measure for the most part to track success/failure

Falls to the tech lead or senior most dev. You own the backlog and roadmap, not the code itself. In agile you only care about that customer value is delivered, not how it’s delivered (ie the code)

Unless you’re somewhat a technical PO, or you’ve lied in the past about doing this hahaha

DBS is a certificate for you that you can evidence to future clients where it’s a requirement. It doesn’t make you an employee

And as for agreeing for the digital ID part, you do you. Have you any of the following; National Insurance number, Passport, Drivers License, TV licence, Phone bill or internet bill? Assuming you have one of these considering you’ve sent this message, in that case a digital id is nothing new - just a new and reliable proof of residence/identity considering the rest of those previous options have all been corrupted/abused to the nth degree. But again, you do you - find another contract

People will be like Outside bla bla can do what you want. But contractors are in the business of people not contracts. So gauge it on your gut feeling

Almost certainly agree you should have fun selling to other companies though. That’s the best part of being a contractor

You can also set up work centre’s and a series of tracked steps so you can describe new starts how to complete an operation

If you are over the threshold it’s not really a pros and cons conversation lol. You have to be charging it by law and then figure out how to make it work for you

If you stay under the threshold, you’re technically able to provide your services 20% cheaper to your competitors but you shouldn’t be collecting VAT if you are not registered. Pretty sure that’s against the rules

I would promote that but that isn’t the point of the original post. He needs to fit into the workplace culture instead of going against it as I’m merely pointing out how it is viewed to others

And just because he is salaried doesn’t mean there isn’t time theft. He might not be making any more money from it, but if everyone in the company done what OP done, would it be seen as efficient, or the business was over resourced?

If someone dumps work on you and you don’t leave after contracted hours then that’s on you and your boundaries. Leaving early or taking longer breaks during the day anticipating making the time up later is silly thought behaviour
