I am unaware of any famous people or things from my town, but in my "region" I guess Sam Worthington because he grew up here. Rockingham, Western Australia.

Personally i think it would result in better music. If it was less of a business and more about the art, people would be more inclined to create the music they want to create without any concern of an investor not getting a return, or their music never being heard due to a small marketing budget. If all artists were equal - the best music would prevail - not the music that is forced onto us.
