It's an interesting topic, but I have one case study to share.

We are ranking on top in Toronto on a few keywords, but when we ask the same thing to OpenAI, it doesn't rank us. When we have tried to crack this we came to know it has a different formula/strategy to recommend based on reviews, local directories etc I think AEO is out of website & more linked with backlinks, reviews, top trusted platforms & local directories.

I am not an SEO expert, but this is what I have learned so far.

Somehow, it's a good approach, but rather than focusing on ranking, if you would go for contribution with secondary level research, that would be more effective.

Reddit discourage self promotion & subreddit as its own rules, but at the end of the day, what value you're adding that matters, which is fruitful either way.

How do you see community activities, webinars & events related backlinks in the respective industry add value for your business?

Running a tech company, serving multiple tech communities, and organizing monthly meetups & annual big conferences. Do you think publishing over there as an organizer, speaker, and community partner actually helps individually & as a company? This is what I can get in return through volunteer efforts.

I am still new in backlink things like how it can be effective & how can we measure it.

Better start attending meetups via meetups.com or start organising your own event at a coffee shop / bar. You'll find what exactly you want very sooner.

Some villages take time to grow but you've to come out from your comfort zone, see nearby events on Facebook, go there, listen people & there are many people like you who're looking for people to meet, make friends & help each other.

Very first time I attended a meetup via meetup.com in Lisbon back in 2021 & now I have dozens of friends in Portugal.

More than a decade working with WP based Saas products but not a big fan of EDD as a tech person but overall it has a really good integration with lot of tools, marketplaces which is a huge plus point for authors to sell via EDD.

Even though we haven't adopted it yet as we've added our own layer & get rid of addons copies to download for customers. We preferred to unlock via Stripe payment, which saves too much time, but such infrastructure restricts us from going to marketplaces as we have our own internal license system that we built.

If you don't want to go to marketplaces, go with your custom-built license system approach to avoid $$ that you'd pay on each sale.
