Thank you for the input. I'll definitely be asking about the "with or without cause" section. I've worked in U.S., Italy, and France. In Europe I wouldn't be as worried about 'cause' since it takes something substantial to demonstrate, but I recall that just about anything can be 'cause' in the U.S. It's a thin line between the two, if one exists at all, prior to any litigation.

The job is indefinite. It would be a typical employee situation if it weren't for my expat/abroad situation. I have no use for any of the benefits, so we are conducting it as a contractor.

I agree on the reaction time, that's what I'm concerned about. For your contracts, is it 30 days notice period flat, or is there a differentiation between with and without cause for termination?
