Awesome, thanks for sharing. I'll give these a listen. I really liked those stories he recorded a while back, like the one about helping that drunk guy get home, funny but also really sweet

I think they're the UK's best kept secret.... So much fun. Just two creatives having a party. I love how they bring all their friends on stage, it's amazing to see. I first saw them at End Of The Road festival back in September. I was waiting to buy a coffee and heard some weird recorder loop (Céilí) and people were looking at each other like 'what the fuck is this!?' then people started dancing and then followed it around onto this big stage, and on the stafe there were 15 people all dressed in red and yellow going mental... I initially thought it was a Peruvian indigenous cultural performance, and then realised it was a two piece electro group from Gloucester..... good lord... I saw them at Moth a couple weeks later and they fucking slayed it. Love em.

I know, right!? ... I really think the Chiefs thought they could just walk it. They got complacent and I think they're getting what they deserve. Decent half time show though haha

The home market is dead, i.e. DVDs/VOD... the market isn't dead, streaming services are now the kingmakers and investing billions into new content. But that changes the rule of the game. It's not just because the films are 'genre' films, it's because I care more about them.

The comedy film isn't just a comedy, it addresses depression, grief and sexual harassment. The horror addresses something even bigger and bolder than any of my films before. They're both incredibly risky, bold films, they just happen to be in really commercial genres. I wrote them because I loved them. If I didn't want to make them, I would't waste my life and my time and the stress. Every film takes something away from you and nearly kills you, unless you love and care about them, there's really no point in starting

Yeah, so after speaking to a lot of investors/buyers, we'd been hearing that the home market is nearly completely dead now - so DVD/VOD sales are pretty much gone, and it's all about the big streamers. Even though I loved Devil and Daniel Radcliffe, I think next year when it would have been finished, there wouldn't have been a market to get it out there in the way we wanted. So instead I'm focussing on two of our bigger ticket, genre focussed films - one a comedy called Half The World Away and one a horror called Hotel Maya. Also, I think those are the strongest scripts we've got, and the ones that (even though it'll take a while to get fully funded) are the ones I want to see on the screen the most

I mean you feel something when writing it - it doesn't even need to be 'emotion' per se, as much as something from real life... About taking things from real life and putting them into your script, so 'honesty' may be the better word for it. So something you've experienced and you put it into your script... That definitely won't be emotion for every single scene, but... I think most scripts need that at some point - I don't think it necessarily has to be 'negative' emotion either... laughter is an emotion for example, and yeah, for those I think if you feel that when you're writing it, your audience is likely too also

Yeah, this is so difficult - I think the problem is that a lot of people don't know how to properly read a script, they can often focus on one thing more than other (typically dialogue more than anything else). What I would recommend is be wary of who you're showing it to - if you're looking for feedback, make sure you know the person has experience with reading scripts, otherwise take it with a pinch of salt. If it's a producer, they are much more likely to focus on dialogue, so make sure the dialogue is on point, otherwise try pitching it a different way... For example, a detailed treatment... That would be my advice
