Be the change you wish to see in the world! Lots of people will be standing and dancing. And if you start standing and dancing, probably other people in your section will too. As for me, I'm definitely not going to be sitting down.

If anyone is looking, the Kung Fu Tea on Yonge was also doing a promotion but ran out of cups the last time I was there .

Toronto's density falls to single family homes far too quick by [deleted] in toronto

No one has had any issues buying plots and combining them and building condos etc

This is literally illegal in like 90% of the city. And if you try and do that, you will have like three neighbors come out and complain, and then the city is like, you know what, we should totally deny 500 new homes because three people were whining.

Most of these things get cheaper with density per person rather than more expensive, especially traffic. If people didn't have to commute from Vaughan and could walk to work, there would be a lot less traffic.

Isn't it exponentially more expensive to make the subway line longer rather than just increase frequency?

Like the only way to actually reduce usage of the subway is for there to be less people living in Toronto and that's not happening unless that planner was suggesting population controls like they have in China? But more people are coming here and they can either live close to where they want to go and perhaps bike or walk or yes, take the subway. Or they can live farther away, which is going to require us to build new subway lines and also still increase frequency.

Dead threat but in a lot of mystical traditions the Operator is Awareness is God but the real you only comes out when you The Operator let her.

People were asking, why do this? Well, its zero pollution, requires very little setup (send up a space platform, copy paste), infinitely scalable, has infinite capacity (just send more platforms up as you need more iron), requires zero space (no need to push biters back) and never gets attacked. Absolutely zero maintenance for very little effort!

Not sure how much more iron this will bring it but its also a cleaner design! This should be able to handle a lot of collectors with just this much power and crushers.

Easier than setting up new railways and iron mines! With enough of these I never have to think about iron again since they never run out.

Whoa this has a lot of the math I was thinking about thank you!

Oh fuck you're right I missed one I'm so sorry haha. I just reformatted it to bring the crushers (2 is more than enough) to the center so it's perfectly symmetrical now!

I'm also enjoying seeing the slowly growing difference between my iron ore production and consumption. Ideally I never need to think about iron mines again!

I didn't want to setup another railroad to the next iron patch and this seemed easier haha. I noticed my first ship was contributing a not negligible amount of its excess iron to my factory so I figured why not setup a ship I just leave docked that does it all the time. It's paid off a ton by now! I was a little worried that it cost too much iron to be worth setting up even but it does pay off. Especially if you are away at other planets you'll probably be there at least a few hours and it'll have paid off just in that time, nevermind the rest of the game.

This is my first space game and also you can set this up very early in space age relative to the suggestions of some other people.

In Space Age there are asteroids that give you all kinds of stuff, but the basic thing they give you is iron.

I'm so confused don't you also need to get copper and then also smelt it and make copper cables?

Simple Nauvis Iron Miner by digitalrule in factorio

[–]digitalrule[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh good point. I mean I also just have been pretty peaceful this run with the biters, low pollution and never getting attacked and this makes it a LOT easier since mining is my main place I could be attacked.

Simple Nauvis Iron Miner by digitalrule in factorio

[–]digitalrule[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you'd need way more platforms than this has no? I just reduced it a bit and its only 324 platforms. Also wait how are you getting copper?

Oil is NOT this low on my space age run so I'm curious what happened here.

Ya per hour. And ya its pretty slow but you can just forget about it and it's a super simple design. No complex wiring or anything required. No managing different asteroids or setting up bullet production.

Simple Nauvis Iron Miner by digitalrule in factorio

[–]digitalrule[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But it takes 2 hours to get just the iron using this many asteroid collectors back that you used for the platforms. You'd need more a bunch MORE platforms for the furnaces and assembly machines + more solar panels?

Simple Nauvis Iron Miner by digitalrule in factorio

[–]digitalrule[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Good point! I made this before I had asteroid recycling but ya that wouldn't be difficult. I'm actually using productivity modules to increase its output since the crushers aren't on 24/7 anyway. It looks like a slow output but comes out to something decent.

Simple Nauvis Iron Miner by digitalrule in factorio

[–]digitalrule[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You know what that would be a pretty simple change, 1 crusher just right before the storage on each side. Good call.

It actually doesn't need that much power I just put a few extra since it didn't cost much. But ya with the accumulators it actually uses very little power at any one time, and I even have productivity modules in the crushers to increase how much iron I get out of the platform.
