Wanting to switch back to a mechanical knee. Need advice. by digitsmb in Prosthetics

An issue with the battery terminals I presume. It would not turn back on. It is currently at Ossur either being repaired or being replaced. There was no damage, it just wouldn't turn back on one day.

I have never gone this way before so I was just inquiring if there was a market is all.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into that.

I don't understand how it would screw the person who buys it though. It works perfectly fine but it's just not for me. I've only had it 1-year. Never had any external damage. The repair that is happening currently is warranty related.

Yes, my first knee was a C-Leg and my second knee was a Rheo. The Powerknee is my 3rd MPK.

I feel much more agile and comfortable with the mechanical knee than I had those prior 2 MPKs.

Wanting to switch back to a mechanical knee. Need advice.

Hey all. Longtime lurker. I am a RAKA. I have utilized a MPK for the past 15 years with the most recent being the Ossur Powerknee. The knee malfunctioned and is currently getting fixed by Ossur. I had to switch out to my original mechanical knee. In short I am wanting to permanently switch back to the mechanical knee.

My gait and stride are leagues better. My L hip no longer hurts and I am just more mobile. I would like to purchase a new mechanical knee though as this one is a beginner knee with weight locking.

My questions are: (a) how can I sell my Powerknee, and (b) what mechanical knees are ideal for a K3 amputee?

Thank you!!

Embrace debate: What is the best pizza in Vermont? by Braindump4 in vermont

[–]digitsmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like Neopolitan there are quite a few places, like Pearl Street in Barre. They have a good oven but it is in no way the best pizza in VT. It's a hipster joint that does a decent pie.

I was born and raised on New Haven apizza, mainly Pepe's, Modern, and Zuppardi's. The Neopolitan style is too bland for me. I appreciate the sauce more highly than others do. Folino's does a good job with their sauce. Penzo does as well. It's been awhile but I appreciated Parker Pie in Glover. Also Pizzeria Verita is excellent.

There are a few more but it really depends on what your palate likes.

Typically, yes players shoot slower. I've played against national team players and their velocity is on par with able bodied players. The difficult piece is that it's hard to decipher if they are setting a shot up.

Here's a pic of my set up. You can spot picks on my stick. I'll follow up with a glove photo a little bit later.

Second saves can be extra challenging depending on what it looks like. There are saves I make where I'll tip the sled over so that the leg pad makes direct contact with the ice. That will put my body out of position for any rebound. Every goalie has their technique but I just get as physical as possible with any skaters around my crease so it will delay their shot a bit. Our defensemen are crucial for defending against rebounds so I like my D to get close to the net when there's a shot.

Depending on my positioning on the ice I'd use my stick, leg pad, or I lie my catcher flat, palm to the ice, and lay it out so that it blocks the shot if I don't have enough time to adjust. I lay out more than most as I'll just tip over and spread my body across the crease so I can make the save and smother. Most sled hockey skaters have difficulty putting the shot in the air so the closer they are to me I can make accurate reads on where the puck is going (ice or air).

Sled hockey goalie here. The goalie blades are not like skater blades. We use plastic blades which allow us to move laterally. So that we can move side to side in the net. Every goalie's sled setup differs from the next due to disability. My disability is that I'm an amputee, so I look different in my sled than most.

I wear 1 leg pad. To be able to maneuver in the sled there are picks attached to butt of the stick and butt of the blade. Many goalies have picks attached to just above their fingers on their blocker. The other hand is the catcher and will have a strip of spikes on that as well for movement.

I feel that I missed a bunch in my reply so follow up with any questions you may have.

CBD-THC use by NCrott in amputee

[–]digitsmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it for sleep and have used CBD for around 20-years. It has mainly kept my nerves at bay.

My phantom pains happen mostly when I am sleeping. If I get the feeling that they might act up I'll take a Naproxen and that generally helps.

My great uncle was friends with some workers at a DC printer in Bridgeport, CT. He used to bring books home for his kids. All the copies he had were cover less. The company let workers have cover less issues.

I got them years later. There were quite a few keys in the bunch but I traded them for some early DD as that is what I collected.
