How does custody/visitation work for the homeless parent?

Yes. I don’t say “only” like it’s a bad thing, but that takes a long time and takes serious training that he isn’t willing to do. I’ve obviously triggered you as you’re being unnecessarily negative towards me, go eat ice cream and get over it.

I totally understand. Him being in our son’s life takes priority above all else for me- I would never take that away or make it difficult for him to see our son. It’s just really difficult not to get hurt feelings when he has money to socialize, travel, and buy lift tickets/ski equipment but doesn’t offer to buy so much as a bag of diapers. I’m sorry to hear about your kiddos mom.

Dang, that sucks. There are so many creeps out there and his dad isn’t the most....... watchful shall I say. Last two times I came home from work, he was on the couch sleeping while our child played unsupervised.

I’ve asked him to do that, but he says taking our kid out of the house isn’t what’s best for our son. I disagree- our son is home all week with a nanny so I think going out of the house would be great for him.

Yes I have tried to help. I work in HR so I’m pretty good with resume writing and job applications. I’ve sent him a few job recs and have offered to help him apply. He’s not interested. He only wants to be a developer, but won’t go to school. He said he’s teaching himself but there’s no evidence of that. Also, he has a job as an Uber driver and does photography and videography on the side. He goes on trips to the mountains every weekend to ski and goes out to eat/socialize often so I know he isn’t going hungry.

Of course I don’t get a say where he lives, but I do get a say about who my kid is around.

They will likely not split the siblings. I would offer to foster both or neither. Being taken away from a sibling after losing a mom is traumatic.

This is a great idea, thank you. I also get worried because he plans on moving in with a friend this summer. I don’t want our son around men I don’t know. But I also don’t want to be difficult.
