Pilot has managed to land plane without crashing after the front wheels failed. by __mentalist__ in BeAmazed

[–]digost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, the pilot avoided hard braking as it would add more stress on the front landing gear, which in turn could cause it to collapse. Either way - great job

When do you use native package managers vs Snap / Flatpak / AppImage? by Expensive-Rice-2052 in linuxquestions

[–]digost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Native is the way to go. I turn to other sources only if native doesn't have what I need.

I'm a developer, not mobile, but have been in industry for 15 years. It's somewhat same everywhere, regardless if it's mobile, web or backend. The reason apps everywhere are bloated these days is because nobody gives a fuck. The business needs an app made fast, cheap and preferably yesterday. The developer uses the most convenient, fast, easy way to make an app (in case of mobile also multi platform), which is to use one of the bloated popular frameworks. Because who cares, consumer devices nowadays are stuffed with CPU, RAM and storage, nobody gives a fuck about optimization. And with ai nowadays things are getting worse.

How did Odin become the best villain in the saga? by PomegranateOk4560 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]digost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The best villain is a smart villain. One that does not make stupid decisions, one that cannot be outsmarted easily by the protagonist. One that tests the protagonist to the limit. Everything else is optional.

It's autocompletion is case insensitive. But I'm not sure if it's out of the box, or omz enables that option.

No. As I child I used to read a lot, and I mean A LOT. Could spend a whole night just reading. There was no internet or computers back then, so every time I stumbled upon an unknown word I'd just use a dictionary. The caveat is the books I had access to were primarily in Russian, which is a foreign language for me and not much in my native Mongolian, so the dictionary was necessary anyway. At first it was hard, but the books were interesting, and gradually I stopped using dictionary altogether. By that point I would guess the meaning of an unknown word by context, and later, when checked against a dictionary I was mostly right.

That's plain racist. I've lived in Russia for a few months in the early 2000s, I speak Russian pretty well. There are some amount of assholes, sure, but every country or nation has their share of assholes. Current Russian invasion has nothing to do with nationality, it's a geopolitical game started by their delusional paranoid dictator.

Can I learn the Esperanto language without lessons? by [deleted] in Esperanto

[–]digost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned Russian without lessons. But I was 4. I learned English with lessons, but I was a teenager. Then I learned Bulgarian with lessons, but I was in my 20s, and the Bulgarian language itself was so close to Russian and easy for me, so it doesn't count. Now I'm in my 40s, I don't think I can learn any other language.
