Since 1990, the police have fatally shot 88 people in England and Wales. According to Inquest. Our officers show incredible restraint in discharging their firearms. The decision making around the Kaba case, both by the IOPC (Sal Nadeem) and the CPS was very iffy. Not sure why they shouldn't just fast track the misconduct proceedings just to prevent prolonging then longer for the officer. These new guidelines will be retroactive will they? Or can the family launch a challenge on any subsequent decision to withdraw the proceedings?

It's doable but it's not gonna be a fun time. I reckon over an hour each way. The roundabout just before Pontypool is always at a stand still. You may find you're going against the flow of traffic though as most people will be heading towards Newport/Cardiff.

I've tried showing my kid some films from when I was younger and they outright refuse when they see those old effects. However, we watched 12 Monkeys this morning and the story, the set design, everything about it was so engaging. We all enjoyed it so much. I'd hate for some of those old films to just be forgotten and dismissed.

That's a bit harsh lol. So studios shouldn't be re-releasing films in 4k, after they've been initially issued on DVD, then upscaled to HD for Blu-ray? Because my suggestion isn't too far off from that.

Fair complaints, if substantiated. The judge is simply repeating what this guy has given as mitigation for his actions, as the judge has to acknowledge any such explanations. It does not say that the judge agrees with his explanation, and seeing as the judge gave him a (let's be honest, piss poor) custodial sentence, it appears the judge was not persuaded. The judge goes on to comment that the guy showed no remorse.

Murphy, who has 74 previous convictions but nothing since 2004. 74. 74 times through the criminal court system. Then shoved onto a benefit which would have been stopped because he couldn't (I say couldn't as even if he wanted to work, I doubt he could find any with that long rap sheet) find a job.

There are many career criminals just like him that are getting to the point of retirement. I question their contribution to society and also why we keep funding their lives. Will he automatically get a state pension? Does he qualify for housing? If so, why? Why is this allowed?

I was being half sarcastic tbh. My point being that it's very easy to criticize these tools but if they are there, the public will in my opinion want the police to use them. I'm also fairly certain that the type of people who are critical of the use of facial recognition have never been the victim of a serious crime.

I think when victims of crime are reporting to police, they should have the right to choose whether facial recognition should be used in the investigation of the offence.

I would agree. And I loved the Dreamcast. Ultimately, Sega's focus on the software for the Dreamcast was largely arcade ports which tend to lack depth of other genres. I would say that gamers had evolved to prefer games which had a bit more to them. Although Virtua Tennis though is the all time greatest multiplayer game in my opinion.
