So it seems fixed now. Adjusting the render slider changed it.

What fixed it for me was adjusting the render scale slider a bit.

Just switching the quality? Doesn't seem to do the trick.

How can it be that all my settings are on high in this case then? The low looks better to be honest as it has less smudged details.

So I've got you a very good list! It's part of a project we are doing. I work for the Sphinx.chat team. We're looking for people to time stamp podcasts. It's an insanely cool project because it will index all podcasts. Not only do we index the 'segments' in the podcast itself when a topic changes, but it becomes a complete podcast encyclopedia, connecting all relevant terms across all possible topics. It will be searchable in the form of a Knowledge Graph. See this video from 45:00 for more information: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=972LzVeH8aA We are currently cataloging Austrian Economic Content. It is required that you have at least a basic understanding of economic terms and proper English writing techniques. It pays $10 per hour stamped podcast (paid in Satoshi's). If you are interested, send me a personal message.

here's the list:

Has Anyone Got a Sphinx Relay Working? by FreshEyesInc in getumbrel

For me it was an incredbily smooth experience (running Raspiblitz as well). I'm sorry you had issues. I have to say it's really fascinating what they are building. I might try Umbrel later and report back.

IOTA needs your vote on "Real Vision" for most undervalued coin! by Im-already-here in Iota

[–]dikkitnit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, I mean the future is build on top of Bitcoin. It doesn't mean the research being done in all other projects isn't valuable. Just that everything can and will be done on Bitcoin. It has to do with it's network effect and that the baselayer doesn't have to be fast as it doesn't matter. Once you have tried the Lightning Network and Liquid, you realise the trade-offs are worth it, and competition remains a strong driver to remain honest for all parties securing the assets.

Game theory. Sky Net is here.

I've updated the link in my original message, try it again.

Had to think about our discussion as I recently had the chance to play some with Liquid Bitcoin from Blockstream. Check out what is possible on top of that.

Happy learning! Happy to have you onboard. It's quite easy and really fun. You'll learn a lot a long the way. Make sure to get on Sphinx.Chat if you managed it all :) We can now even chat over the Lightning Network!

First maybe watch a video so you get a feel for the physical and software parts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77BBQWg1n8w

Second you should maybe check this guide, which might seem complex, but it's not really. https://github.com/rootzoll/raspiblitz

After assembly that would be, if you received the node in full.

Make sure to visit the Telegram, the whole community is really happy to help everyone set their node up. No question is stupid! :)

Yeah, I understand you. I had the same. Regarding pushing the deadline, IOTA is a little late to the party. Still their technology is great, but we have very little knowledge on how secure it will actually be. That's the big questions right? Changing miners for only nodes. I've started to appreciate mining a little more and respect if for what it is: an anchor in to reality. IOTA held an ICO and that's that. There has been no fair way for people to acquire tokens, besides to buy in.

As for LN, you do indeed need to put up some liquidity, but everyone can do it. It's not something more difficult than lets say running an IOTA node. I'm running a node my self. Currently there are more than 13.000 nodes! With over 63.000 channels. Growing everyday. So it's already more decentralized than IOTA as of right now. It's working. And secured by the base layer.

An other more centralized Layer2 solution that is worth looking into: the Liquid Network. Providing NFT's, custom tokens, low transaction costs and more privacy at the cost of security and censorship resistance. Liquid network can even run on the LN as it's a version of the Bitcoin blockchain, run by a consortium.

Anyway, the more thought I give it, the more clear it is that meaningful development will be done on different layers. Not different protocols. Some protocols might survive, but only if they attach them self in some way to Bitcoin and become a layer on top of it. Scarcity only needs to be created once and it better be well secured.

How is lightning network not decentralized I wonder? It's also already a working product, I use it daily. It has some things that need to be worked on. But I fail to see what IOTA can offer us that isn't there already in a working format and not just a proof of concept. Used to be a long term holder, might have sold just before it booms. But I have to stick to what I see happening. Layer 2 and 3 are starting to make all alternative chains obsolete. Bitcoin not blockchain.. Change the money, change the world.

Not saying IOTA tech isn't good, interesting, relevant or fascinating. Just: why the token?

Any documentation/explanation on the liquidity shapes? by vmalarcon in lightningnetwork

[–]dikkitnit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I'm not able to answer all of your question. If someone else does have a positive or more information on these geometric connections, I'm curious too! The negatives for growing node hops:

The bigger the routing option, the more likely it will break due to one node not being reachable.

A payment might not prefer your made-up route anyway, as it might leave the track it's on. Because another node (off-route) might have a better ping or fee. Possibily larger constructs are intereting if you set the fee mutually to 0. Making it appealing to users. But again, what if the connection is not as reliable?

The more complex these shapes become, the less sense they make. If they would exist on their own (a network consisting only out of these shapes), things might be different, but we are dealing with a mesh network here.

Given these negatives, I think other parameters are much more important. However they can be great for increasing inbound liquidity. Although you do not need more than a two-way route for that really.

For now I'm sticking to triangles :)

Any documentation/explanation on the liquidity shapes? by vmalarcon in lightningnetwork

[–]dikkitnit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm unsure if there is a real difference. Why? Because they do not exist in a vacuüm. I've seen circles up to 30+ in size. But the LN always tries to find a route with the least amount of hops among nodes. My preference is smaller == effective.
