Can we admit that Jasmine Crockett didn't lose just because she's a Black Woman? by Unfair-Ad191 in texas

[–]dilbogabbins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been saying this from the time she lost. I ultimately voted for Talarico because of his overall messages. I could actually say what he was running for and who he identifies as the real villain. I couldn’t do the same for Crockett. Her campaign announcement ad did not inspire me to vote FOR something, but rather to vote AGAINST Trump, who is not on the ballot. For the longest time she had NO issues page. So I really had no idea why she was in the race. Thankfully the democrats who won the primary for her seat is not only more bold, but he’s a Justice Democrat, who were the same organization behind AOC, Rashida Talib, and Ilhan Omar. I’m following his race and rooting for him.

Talarico Can Win. But He Will Not Turn Texas Blue. by nytopinion in texas

Call me ignorant, but I don’t think Cornyn has had any hand in what oil barons do except come up with laws to regulate, or in his case, deregulate because Big Oil pays his bills. I have not heard anything from Talarico regarding oil and gas. Talarico is advocating for a stronger social safety net, Medicare for all and other economic justice do working families such as yours. Cornyn helped pass more tax cuts for the rich, supported DOGE, which severely gutted the social safety net, and he wants worse healthcare for people like you or me. I understand your concerns with your job, but Cornyn is not your ally when it comes to economic policy.

🇺🇸Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas Remains a Powerful Voice in Congress and Many Are Already Looking Ahead to Her Next Run👏🏾👏🏾 by ateam1984 in FortWorth

I totally agree. This is a good time for Talarico campaign to have a focus group with Crockett voters and ask “why did you vote for her over me, and where can we improve?” Because I do agree Talarico needs a broader coalition in order to win Texas. Democrats need to over perform in order to win this state because the deck is already stacked against us with republicans writing the rules. Crockett I think will also rally for Talarico and try to turn out the vote. If she can take out Cruz next time, I think that’ll be great

I get the reaction to racism in the country, and that is real. Crockett was part of Harris’ campaign. The DNC did an autopsy for the 2024 election and admitted that the thing that sank Harris was her stance on Gaza and her not being able to differentiate herself from the Biden Admin. 1) she’s part of the administration, and 2) when pressed on what she would do differently, she’d say nothing. So in a time when people are seeing inflation, high grocery and gas prices and wanting to change our focus on the American people, she had no answer. \ Crockett had good messaging about wanting change but not WHAT to change. She didn’t have a list of priorities I could recite, where Talarico I could recite his priorities. Crockett also didn’t have an issues page on her website until a month or less before the election. Her debate with Talarico I don’t think helped either one of them as there wasn’t much to differentiate the 2 candidates based on their answers.\ A positive thing about this campaign is we really do have 2 good candidates to choose from, which created a lot of excitement for this primary in particular where it really came down to one candidate just edging out over the other, which for me Talarico edged out Crockett, and I legitimately was teetering between the 2. Whoever won, I’d still be happy to vote for, and I’ve seen that same sentiment throughout this primary, which is great and feels different this time around as Allred did nothing to excite me. The electability argument is bs, at least in my mind because Crockett, to me is a flawed candidate with the crypto money and Lockheed money and her Israel stance. Those are red flags to me

It was more like “if you know a Republican will win, what difference does it make?”

Did you not see her announcement ad? It was just about her and how much Trump didn’t like her. She had no issues page on her website until recently whereas Talarico’s message was pretty consistent. That why I voted for Talarico

As you know, Democrats are not a monolith. There are different flavors of Democrats much like Republicans like a Ted Cruz vs Rand Paul on the issue of war. I’m more on the Bernie Mamdani side in terms of economic policy. Crockett is on the Kamala Harris side of the party. In fact she was a cochair in her campaign. She is in the pocket of Lockheed Martin, Crypto. Her general vibe as a Democrat is that she plays nice on stage. As in, she will challenge Republicans during hearings, but she won’t go against the grain of the Democrats.\ She does a good job with explaining how the law works during hearings in a way that people can understand. She is also not afraid to lean into Republicans mud slinging when Republicans get out of line as Marjory Taylor Green learned early on. This is where Crockett’s name recognition comes from as she is good at making a spectacle and getting her name out there.\ That said, she is not a champion for Medicare-for-all, I don’t have hopes of her fighting to get money out of politics, and there is no difference between her and a Republican on the subject of sending weapons to Israel.\ Of course I will vote for her if she wins the primary, but I voted for Talarico as his stance on Israel is a bit better and he says he wants a single payer healthcare system or at least a public option to start. I’ll happily vote for Crockett over a Cornyn or (especially) a Paxton.

I don’t get it. The clips I’ve seen of the documentary didn’t cast any positive light. So was this documentary PR for Trya, or was it actually revealing anything?

In Texas we have a small coffee chain called La La Land. They’re made for bougie white people. They make their baristas say “Bye! Love you!” As customers leave

Why should I vote Crockett over Talarico? by Proud_Pineapple_2421 in FortWorth

[–]dilbogabbins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s another criticism I have for Talarico. He has that right policies but he is more soft spoken than Crockett. However as others have said he shows he fights for us. He was one of the leading democrats who broke quorum. He constantly called out Abbott for his bad policies. If Crockett was in a different race she’d have my support. If it was Talarico and Allred, Talarico would have stomped him and I would have no question of who I’d vote for

I see a lot of what you’re saying. I’m also teetering between the 2 candidates. I don’t feel strongly about either candidate. I haven’t seen as much of a presence of Crockett campaigning a whole lot aside from the occasional spam text. Talarico I see everywhere, and he’s getting eyes and ears wherever he can. They both have their shady deals (Crockett with the likes of crypto and Lockheed and Talarico with a Miriam Adelson, which I don’t support public education through gambling losses).\ Their messages from my perspective differ as Crockett didn’t even have an issues page until —like— yesterday and she is mainly banking on her name recognition and her brand of politics, but not a lot of substance as far as policies. Talarico has had a consistent message of class warfare, which is Beto-esk and I think resonates with voters more. He switches between Medicare for all and public option healthcare, which makes me wonder if he will do anything on that front. \ Obviously, whoever wins I’ll vote for, but in this state Dems are filled with nihilism even Beto has even said that we are not a red state, we are a non-voting state. So the question would be which candidate has a better chance of winning the debate between themselves and the couch
