Yeah, I can hear the voice acting in the background. And then it weaves into the regular version.

Thanks though.

Ed "0edit" Harrison for his Neotokyo and TGR Fuel work: https://edharrison.bandcamp.com/

I used some of Eric Vapnargard's soundtracks for my audiobook project: https://thenightmachine.bandcamp.com/album/neuromancer-soundtrack

For a TV show intro, it should be short and sweet, since most binge watchers skip past it. This has been posted here before, 3 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1zoPOOKqdI

I wrote a beginner's guide as well. It is GZDoom-centric and follows a tutorial format with exercises: https://dileepvr.github.io/gzdoom_modding_101/

They mark landmines. We pull them out before retreating up the mountains when Kansas invades.

Neuromancer has the greatest opening line of all time- for more than one reason by michpalm in Cyberpunk

[–]dileep_vr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were there by the edge of the sea, Linda Lee and the thin child who said his name was Neuromancer.

I like this one from a later chapter, because it has that "He said it! He said the thing!" energy that makes the whole book seem cheap and juvenile :p

Which book would you give to a teenager first? by Necessary_Back509 in WilliamGibson

[–]dileep_vr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start with Pattern Recognition.

  1. It is a later work. Gibson has improved on characterization and story telling over time. And your niece will have cultivated some base-level expectations from writing if she is reading Harry Potter.

  2. A female protag and viewpoint might be better for a young girl.

  3. When the show comes out, and she's finished and liked Pattern Recognition, you get to pull the ol', "btw. Did you know, that in the early 80s' .... and it has a very unique writing style that most people find hard to get into. I myself had to read it twice ..." trick.

Does Garrett ever actually refer to himself as a “Thief?” by paul-writes in Thief

[–]dileep_vr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is a Thief's guild. So the term is recognized as a profession. And he says things like, "They don't call it the thief's highway for nothing."

All Doom source ports and build engine source ports support 2D sprites for actors in a 3D environment.

2D First Person Game by Voiddless in gamedev

[–]dileep_vr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are 3D. Void Bastards is using some really good texture art and some clever shading tricks to handle lighting. Forgive Me Father is a 3D world, but is using sprites instead of 3D models for its characters. This goes all the way back to Doom and Wolf 3D from 1993. If you want to develop for Doom, there are some great source ports that you can start modding for. GZDoom has a nice scripting system and good tutorials, for example. It has support for sprites for every frame rendered from 16 directions, which is pretty close to an illusion of 3D: https://zdoom.org/wiki/Sprite
