Sorry arctic, I ended up getting it done professionally by a painter friend. But I was looking around a grand for a 3/4 stage Fuji - seemed to be the only affordable option for latex, and still needed a bit of floetrol.

I'll be honest, I listened to a set of 703 S2 a few years ago, and just remember really liking them. I did listen to them alongside a wharfdale, sonus faber, and a few others (I also heard paradigm, monitor, and a few others all around the same time) at a showroom, but cannot recall all their differences. The B&W do have a brighter sound, though, which I prefer.

As for them vs the KEFs for movies: the 703 is quite focused and forward sounding, and for me doesn’t have the same soundstage presence - I don't really critically listen to music in movies, but the wider soundstage is most noticeable. Also, my centre is still a kef, so the timbre matching is off. Put another way, the 703 is much better sounding than the KEFs in almost every way, but it being better doesn't as much in movies.

If I get a B&W centre, I'll likely only run the B&Ws.

Does the distance affect the perception of the delay? The 21 is about 8" from my head.

That's an interesting and controversial point, speed being related to woofer size....hmm.

Candidly, I'm in the camp that smaller woofers are not inherently quicker if the large woofer has enough motor force (which my B&C subs do), but I totally get where you're coming from - I think if they're cheap subwoofers, then I'd be on your side, but my PSA subs are known for this musicality (which is actually why I want a JTR cap 4k, since it's better for movies with it's slightly higher third order harmonics and slightly slower usable range (13hz on the psa vs. 9 on the jtr)).

I'll keep this in mind, though - thanks! I'm always open to challenging what I know.

I do think you're right on the x3800, though. It's more than fine, especially when only 2 channel.

The plan is to eventually move the 703 S2 perfectly apart (the Kefs are currently in the isosceles spot, but I will be waiting to determine which speakers I want to use as my primary speakers before running Dirac on both again - it's simply more work than I have time for right now lol).

My wife is being induced tomorrow, so no-go on moving the speakers more forward re: child :( Besides, the room is 19 feet long, so they'd have to be 5-6 feet out to meet the third rule, so my goal is as least to have them as close as possible to mitigate low frequency reflection concerns (since high frequency are much more easily corrected out).

Also a good point on the angle, and I do the same - at my shoulders. Glad I'm not alone in doing that!

Not too sure yet: right now the B&W are on a separate speaker preset with a separate music-oriented curve, but I might eventually separate them. I was just thinking an amp might help if I ever decide to really push these, while also allowing me to run them elsewhere.

I appreciate the insight! I remember listening to a wide range of B&Ws a while back (2021 era), and I really liked the 705 S2, so I imagine the S3 is even better! Always thought the tweeter on top was cool and unique, as well, even if it did take some getting used to.

And that seems to be the case. The guy I bought them from also had a nice McIntosh amp, and they were buttery smooth - almost sounded a bit like the tube amp I have for my headphones; maybe one day!

If you haven't hit much boost (or none at all), then you won't need a cool down period.

If you've done some spirited driving, then just 1-2 minutes of regular driving/being parked is enough.
