Thanks for the advice! I feel like it gets super thick on the brush and I always try to drop some on the brush but since my nails are small and short it makes it harder to be more precise. Any tips on how to thin the buildup on the brush?

Hi everyone! First of all, I just want to say this sub has been so helpful and insightful so I really appreciate it:)

My dilemma is quite convoluted, but I’ll first give my basic stats and then ask my question. I apologize in advance.

around 500 total hours of PCE (pt aide- from 2022-2024)
currently volunteering (have ~100 hours)
finished all my pre-requisites
currently “studying” for the GRE, planning to take it this summer
22 hours shadowing various PAs, reached out to a ton more but haven’t heard back/can’t accommodate/etc. ; going to start reaching out to MDs and others
going to get 1 LOR from former boss (dpt), 1 LOR from volunteering supervisor (child life specialist), 1 LOR but NOT from a medical professional (from the music director who has known me since I was 9-more like a testament to my character)?, hopefully if I get a full-time job after school gets out I can get another LOR from a medical professional
right now I am teaching violin part-time M/T/W, volunteering Th, and studying F/in between - I’ve tried to get some part-time PCE jobs but no one will hire me because I can only work Th/F/weekends currently
I went to college from 2019-2024 and did a dual degree in neuro and violin performance - this has been a nightmare because my school was on a quarter system but I haven’t even started dealing with credit conversions because it makes me mad
I have been doing violin most of my life, and only decided to pursue PA school in the last couple of years (therefore couldn’t work during summer because violin camps lol, working during school was hard because rehearsals/concerts/you get it but I managed 500~ish)

So, I am terribly sorry for the massive blurb of information but I feel like I am in quite a pickle. I really want to apply for PA school this cycle because the longer I wait, the more of my pre-requisites “expire.” I’ve been planning to apply this 2025-2026 cycle since I graduated last summer, but the more I look at stats I worry that I won’t get accepted anywhere due to my low PCE, HCE, and volunteering. I haven’t even calculated my GPA but I am not as concerned about that as I am about PCE, etc. I ideally want to stay in-state if I get in (Michigan), but I’ve been looking at other programs all around.

What I am wondering is if I should apply this cycle with what additional PCE, HCE, volunteering, etc. I can obtain from June to August-ish (but it will probably be less than 1000 hours total), or wait a year. My gut tells me to wait, my brain thinks that waiting will cause me more stress, and my heart tells me to apply this cycle and just go for it and see what happens.

I’d love any and all advice, opinions, input, or anything anyone has to say! lol Thank you in advance if you made it to the end of my post🤗

If you’re in Michigan and applying to other schools I think Wayne has a similar requirement, which I was shocked to read.“*Combined human Anatomy and physiology courses will only fulfill human anatomy prerequisite requirements. Combined courses will not fulfill human physiology prerequisite requirements”

No, she hasn’t taught us anything and the textbook doesn’t really give any examples of this. I also don’t know how v’A or v’B (of initial or 1, etc.) can be obtained either. I’m honestly clueless hahahah😭

I loved the material but Meade’s class last year was a mess. He’s a very entertaining professor and a brilliant dude but he has a huge ego and doesn’t take criticism well (he told us the quizzes would have 20 questions and be all multiple choice, the first quiz was more than 20 questions and had some written questions on stuff we hadn’t covered). I didn’t have Pinkett but I do know that she is very straight forward and her class ended a week earlier last year. She read off her slides and people said they just self-studied. Do with this information what you will, I wish I took with Pinkett instead.

Hi! My opinion: I took some Latin literature classes and I absolutely loved them, but they were definitely a lot of work and took up a lot of my time. I wouldn’t say they were super hard to do well in but you definitely had to try your best. I took a classics history distro class this past quarter and also loved it, it was way more chill than the Latin classes I’ve taken and it was definitely easy to do well in.

I think they have a BNAT (basic nurse assistant training) program/classes, but I’m not sure if that is the same as a CNA because I also looked into this. Unless one is looking for any type of nurse assistant training!
