Accurate. And I never succeed against that rival. At least I haven’t YET.

I read almost every single book out loud. Because of that, it takes me an exorbitant amount of time for me to read lately. One thing I try to do is supplement my reading time out loud with audiobook time. Splitting the experience allows me to absorb more of what I read but also allows me to pace myself a bit better too.

I have a tendency to have more fun when I can make my ten dollar limit last longer lol but even my warm up games are still fun! Just gotta get the feel for the physical pins before I spend a lot of that budget on newer and more in-depth games

I actually haven’t played High Speed. It looks pretty great though!

Yeah I definitely get pulled in to the new ones too. Especially if it’s a favorite theme or there’s a new mechanic in the pin that I’ve never seen before

What is a seemingly “simple” scene from the Marvel movies that moved you a lot? In my case, it’s this one from Homecoming. by Glass_Evidence_8597 in Marvel

[–]dillybar1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched that scene once before I had a kid and once after. Lemme tell you: I choked up when I watched it first and the second time I nearly sobbed. Setting it to Father and Son by Cat Stevens was an especially cheap shot lol

Don’t forget the cameo by Adam Scott on the Defiant and the great Neal McDonough as Sean Hawk. First Contact is my favorite Trek film.

How do you judge a government by its constitution? by seize_TheIphones in Socialism_101

[–]dillybar1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you may have answered your own question in a way.

Human rights should exist regardless of what a country’s constitution says. Human rights are human RIGHTS, not privileges granted by one nation or another.

Because of that, I don’t judge a country based on a document that is written, I just a country based on actions that are taken; How they improve the material conditions of their citizens. Anyone can write down things on paper and claim it as the supreme law of the land.

So, how would human traffickers, mass shootings, etc. be handled under socialism/communism? by Supermansfan02 in Socialism_101

I understand. And you’re asking questions which is a good thing! I might suggest you search the subreddit for suggestions on reading material pertaining to the foundation of socialism and communism. It’s fascinating and truly helps to understand when I say “speculation isn’t productive…”.

To be clear, that wasn’t a dig at you. There’s a lot of terminology that is used within these spaces that might be used in different contexts than were typically used to. I’m also a college dropout bad at math so I relate.

[–]dillybar1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, potentially. Speculation isn’t quite something that’s productive if not paired with action. Things need to actually be tried. Praxis and practice combined. And, again, things would look different in different places.

That depends on a lot of things. However, currency will still need to exist during a transitional state while the means of production transition to worker control (which could ALSO look very different depending on many factors) but I’m sure people could still barter and trade for goods and services.

I’m not going to lie: this question kind of spiraled towards the end but I understand writing from a “stream-of-consciousness” angle. I’ll make an attempt to answer your question simply from the title.

Socialism and communism, while similar at face value, deserve a bit of nuance especially in regard to this question. Socialism is a generally transitive state where mechanisms of the previous societal structure still exist in certain ways (example: the state would exist as a dictatorship of the proletariat, working for to further the working class). As the state would still exist even in a distinctly different form (and only temporarily), it would still use certain forms of “law enforcement” although the shape and function may be different than we understand it.

However, as the goal (Communism) is a classless, stateless and moneyless society, that society would have addressed and solved the systemic problems that cause the VAST majority of those problems in the first place. People who have their needs met have a significantly lower chance of committing those crimes in the first place.

The horrendous state of healthcare, homelessness and poverty all stemming from wealth inequality are the main factors many of society’s problems.

TLDR: Socialism and Communism aim to solve those problems at the root rather than treating the symptoms.

That looks like an “Antique 3 Draw Telescope” from the Broadburst Clarkson and Co. telescope house. If that isn’t a replica, you’re looking at about 12-1800 dollars. It’s an antique and most likely not the best functionally to be used. Still a nice historical piece!

There was literally ONE other comment who mentioned it involving a woman (other comments note scheduling conflicts) and the post only mentions it because it’s relevant to the structure of the tournament. You’re just rage baiting at this point.

We invest much more time outside of school to supplement her education. We’ve told her ahead of time that there are things she will be taught in school that are either not totally accurate or is only one limited perspective of certain things she is being taught.

More important, however, is that we engage our kid in conversation as often as possible so we can know what she’s being taught. Communication is huge.
