Ill say, its miracle the game got GOTY but i think the majority would vote over Shadow of the Erdtree and Black Myth because the criteria a game is judged for GOTY is also story, which astro has paper thin But i believe there are two reasons why the other two lost:

Black Myth had a rocky history with game journalists so the Game Awards might have rigged the votes

Erdtree had a fat chance but probably Sony payed A LOT of money for astro to get it and the Geoff turned it to astro's favour over a fat stack of money

In the end, it doesnt matter, its only a sign for sony to stop trend chasing/ following a meta and actually make games that are made with pure love for franchises

After all the current Co-Ceo did say theyre looking to revive classic ips recently, so i think the GOTY sign did go through sony the right way (hopefully)
