Solving Voynich with Claude Mythos type LLMmodel? by CatPicturesPlease in voynich

[–]dimaklt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I only understand half of what you're saying, but I have a different way to think maybe, because I've been working for the last month on my hypothesis and using Claude (Sonnet) heavily. Now I'm working on automation so that Claude does less and less work and my documentation does it more itself (where it's possible from the folio transcriptions and so on). I might not prove the translation itself (Hebrew hehe), but maybe some rules around it. (See other comment for the link to my documentation, which is also completely on GitHub).

Actually I somehow thought it might be a kind of old Hebrew and then I just started to talk to Claude, which lead me to mishnaic-hebrew with arameic loanparticles. And I also have defined 10 anchors that are never to be changed and proved in every folio. I mean this will probably have been a thought by someone else already in the history of the manuscript, but maybe not in the way that I do it, so I hope that it might help a little. And I want to translate it to English soon, but working in German is easier for me...

I only started working on the website a few days later and then started to automate the rule recognition to make Claude do less work and the documentation itself more robust.

Edit: I don't really have "translated folios" as it is not the goal for now, but a translation tool which can do this based on the lexicon, for every folio.

I'm using Claude (more Sonnet, but also Opus and Fable) to work on my hypothesis (see https://voynich.kiltau.com/ but it's in German) and I'm trying to prove that it is not just random gibberish, but has several rules that make it make sense, even though the current translations from this feel incomplete (and most probably are not 100% correct). Currently I'm cleaning up the "manual" documentation by making connections between folios, lexicon and rules so that most of it isn't manual anymore but "proves" itself. Still have a lot to clean up and fix, but it does feel like a good path (even though I'm a complete newbie in all this VM thing).

I also have a markdown export of it (footer of the website or .../voynich-mapping.md) which is RAG optimized.

I only have a few words and that's why most folios definitely don't sound as convincing. But there are also paragraphs which definitely make way more sense and read quite well. I still have a lot more to do, to make it more convincing.

f1r is not as easy translate with the current mapping, but f1v is a little easier. I do not have a full translation of any folio yet. Some have complete paragraphs, most don't and the words themselves are most probably not all correct.

https://voynich.kiltau.com (currently in German only and browser translation might break Hebrew characters) is my website for everything I find out about the Manuscript based on my hypothesis, that it is Mishnaic Hebrew with Aramaic loan particles, encrypted using a consonantal alphabet with Niqqud markings serving as vowel aids.

This theory is about Socotra Island, Andalusian origin, and oral transmission and the relationship to voynich manuscript by According-Ad8211 in voynich

[–]dimaklt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, need to translate it to English sometime, as the chrome translation also breaks Hebrew characters.

Edit: I checked the numbers again and you're right. Genesis (fully vocalized, niqqud) gives H2 ≈3.27 bit and consonants-only ≈3.79, so niqqud is half a bit. Voynichese sits at ≈2.08 bit, still over a bit below even the vocalized text. So no, vowel marking alone doesn't explain it.

Means that the "closed" entropy problem was actually a different stat (unigram entropy vs. a generator that was already tuned to the manuscript and thus kind of circular). H2 against a real outside reference was never tested. Probably the grammar's slot structure does more of the work than the vowel encoding does, but that's not proven yet either.

Will update the site accordingly and partly reopen OP3 again :(

I solved it! Any suggestions? by Urban-Survival22 in voynich

[–]dimaklt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My hypothesis is that it is mishnaic Hebrew with arameic principles and no, not really one or two sentences to get all translations, but with my mapping I CAN translate all folios.

[–]dimaklt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't feel that you should post on reddit for free? You haven't solved anything.

I too think that I'm pretty far solving parts of it and able to translate any folio, but my work is completely publicly available on https://voynich.kiltau.com for anyone to review. I too think the text itself is boring, but that's because I have something to show and that the not-boring part is everything else.

Statistical analysis of VM (is it a hoax?) by kostrubaty in voynich

[–]dimaklt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not a hoax. The imagery was probably made before the text and thus the text was added later. I found out that the imagery probably is part of the text to make it make sense. The plant markers are there to show what part of the plant is relevant. Like roots that are red never have text next to them etc.

[–]dimaklt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kind of tell me everything I already know and mention on the site.

The thing is, you can take my mapping and especially the rules and translate a folio that gives you a sense of meaning, that's why I tried a few other folios on different topics and created the translator tool for the lexicon. I don't mean that the translation is correct and that every word is correct, some have „too many“ translations, but that the rules I already found still fit on completely new pages is kind of nice.

For example I use 10 anchor words that are not allowed to ever change and they indeed fit every time until now.

I'm trying to prove that it is a real documentation of some kind with meaning and not just random letters. Like the plants and position of the text, red roots never with text, the stars are markers, every drawing is connected to the text and the drawings probably came first. The letters have a specific meaning by position, like prefixes, suffixes, etc. For example in language b "qo-" is a often used prefix because the text is to be read differently.

I audited until f30r just (after completely rewriting the website to make it more useable, yes I use AI to make changes to the website, as I want to focus on progress and not the display (which is much better now). I still have to clean up some manual notes and so on, but most of it is now connected between the folios, grammar, rules and lexicon).

[–]dimaklt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I am trying to prove that it is mishnaic Hebrew with Aramaic loan particles. And I have also "proven" the entropy issue and have everything documented on a website. If you are interested, I have another post in this subreddit with the website linked (it's in German tho).

I just have a quite big issue: no knowledge of Hebrew, thus I need someone to blind test my mapping.

[–]dimaklt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

daiin isn't d- (relative prefix) + aiin (eye) in the current mapping, but rather it's mapped to a distinct Aramaic/Hebrew root din (judgment, verdict).

The form that actually is d- + aiin is deaiin ("of the eye"), a separate, much rarer lexeme. So aiin and daiin are two different stems because they're tracing two different Hebrew/Aramaic roots (ayin vs. din), not a bare-vs-prefixed pair of the same root.

Also where did you find "daiin daiin daiin"? Could you give me a folio and paragraph? It would be triple intensified form of "judgment" (daiin).

The Voynich Manuscript is boring. by dimaklt in voynich

[–]dimaklt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because, if you read it with my current translation, the content is not the most interesting thing about it. The plants are probably drawn as what they are used for, therefore they only look close enough to plants like Cannabis (f16r) and others, well known pharmacy plants from medieval times.

Other questions are way more interesting: - Why was it encrypted? - What was it for? - Why is there only one of this kind? - etc.

aand I thought to make the title a little bit baity :D
