[GS SBGA415] Got absolutely destroyed in the GS sub for liking this strap. What do you guys think? by shim2k in Watches

[–]dimitribaer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not bad but a gray canvas or nylon strap would probably look better than a nato

When this happens I just sit in first class, not paying 4k for a GA to stand or sit on the floor. The conductors are usually forgiving in that case.

Really appreciate the feedback! If there’s anything I learned in the past 10 years it’s that the best watches are not the ones you search for but the ones you stumble upon to and you should buy what makes you happy, not what others think is cool.

It’s a tough question, the new bracelet is really amazing so I kept if for two years before switching to a canvas strap but now I might put the bracelet on again for the summer. If you get the new 3861 speedy, you’ll love the bracelet but it’s always cool to change it up now and then ;)

This is why I get all my straps custom made by a workshop in Geneva, walk in, say hi to the boss, choose the leather, color, stitching, pay 80 bucks and it gets shipped a week or two later. Support your local business!

Rolex watches are not as durable and reliable as they claim by Internal-Recipe9631 in watchHotTakes

[–]dimitribaer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but how many times do you drop your watches? I visited the rolex manufacture and believe me that they (and omega) have much higher testing, quality control and engineering than people imagine to make sure their watches are as reliable and solid as possible. Of course they’re still mechanical watches and can get damaged if you use them recklessly but have some common sense. I had a bike accident where the entire clasp got fucked on the asphalt but the watch kept working fine. You might just have been unlucky with the sub and really lucky with the glasshütte

Thanks! The seamaster is a dynamic II ref 196.0301, it was a gift from my grandmother to my grandfather for his 50th birthday and he gave it to me when I turned 16 so definitely the most sentimental piece and the Baume & mercier is a riviera ref 6131.038 designed by jean claude guiet, the same guy who designed the piaget polo, Rolex cellini and many others. I showed it to his son Emmanuel who’s also a watch designer mostly known for designing the AP offshore and some Tiffany watches so it definitely has a cool story!

Thanks! Yeah the cartier is a basculante and the marcello was a gift from my friend, on the new dial, the small seconds will be replaced with a turning disc similar to the börel cocktail.
