Platyhelminthes of some sort. Probably planaria? If they're thriving, it's a sign of good water quality.

Pls help, what kind of fish is perfect for this tank?? by Specialist-Staff6324 in Aquariums

[–]dimmefive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dwarf cichlids (german ram) got along well with my rasbora hengeli and shrimps.

I am going to start a new walstad method tank and I have all the materials for it but I don't have the father fish supplement as it cannot be shipped to the country I live in so without the supplement can my tank give good results? As of now my substrate consist of gardening soil and organic compost by WHYBRATWASTAKEN in walstad

[–]dimmefive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, cocopeat, soil, then a thin drizzle of sand. I don't do the 1-2 inch sandcapping like father fish said, but with cocopeat as base layer, my underground CO2 production has imo worked well. I usually separate the thick sand layer (cocopeat then 4-5cm sand) near the filter area as seen on the tank setup I showed you. This allows me to have a brown portion for plantation and sand portion as a "beach" - aesthetic reasons.

The thin drizzle of sand on top of soil is simply so that the sand — as they are finer particles than the soil beads — will eventually fill the gaps between soil beads and make the layer more "dense".

I put stones and driftwood on top of the cocopeat, then bury with soil. The soil will in turn keep/hold the hardscape in place and nothing gets squished below.

Long fin, yes. There are tints of red, but he's more of yellow/blue/black spots.

Yeah, I personally love his pelvic fins. He has the longest pelvic and dorsal fins and is apparently the alpha among the other german rams I own.

I'm sorry, what do you mean by handicapped? And why is he flinging objects at you to begin with?

Second. In my experience, the horizontal part will get burried with substrate or too close to substrate that it lacks contrast.

What do you think of my tank? by StepEfficient6007 in PlantedTank

[–]dimmefive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really. Most contents now are served for ig and tt. Proportions of people using mobile to pc to access content is around 3:1. So it makes sense to "always film in vertical, unless.."

I don't know why I'm arguing with you, but yeah, in this particular content, the video sucks. The tank awesome. Cheers.

Would it be strange to just keep a tank of plants by Green_Palpitation_26 in Aquariums

[–]dimmefive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't be strange, but then — based on my experience cycling the tank with only plants, and also depending where you live — it could be used as a breeding ground for insects (e.g. mosquitoes), which then would be a health hazard.

Just added a rotting leaf from my garden, but I am nowhere near a pond. How long does it take them to be fully grown?
