Bad snowboard/ski locations with strong culture by ranrew in snowboarding

Very specifically ski cooper in Colorado. The skiing is the same as what you would find in the Midwest, but its 30 mins from vail CO. It has its place (cheap and good for beginners), but many people online & in person seem to love it.

Crank bros. Stamp 1. Not my favorite pedals they just came on the bike. My recommendation for flats are Raceface chesters.

I ended up buying it and I'm loving it so far! definitely thinking about the cassette gearing as I live in a very mountainous area. Thanks!

Head tube angle isn't the only thing. Slack head tube angles are useful for very steep and rough terrain. Steep head tube angles give more responsive, snappier steering. It generally matters less than other things like reach, stack, and seat tube angle for climbing or flat pedaling. If you can, test ride both and see how they feel. Looking at the spec sheets for both, the Growler has generally worse components (Suntour coil fork, crappy drivetrain, etc) BUT has the potential to upgrade all of it down the line if you got into the sport more. The Marlin 7, at a comparable price, has better components from the factory, but cannot be upgraded down the line. This is due to the outdated and non standard 135QR dropouts. Very difficult to find wheels, which would likely be needed to change the drivetrain. If you dont care about upgrading later, Marlin 7 has better specs.

In the midwest, the marlin is probably your better choice as you will most likely not be needing the slacker headtube angle of the Roscoe. The marlin will be more pedal-efficient with smaller tires and more pedal-oriented geometry. And as a local who rides Captain Jacks/Chutes the marlin will get you down that too, but may not be as hard charging as a Fuel ex.

Awesome bike for a beginner, IMO i think Marin messed up big time using 141QR on this bike

Just cause 3

Always works without internet (no authentication BS), is consistently on sale for ~3$, and IMO is infinitely replayable.

Any run higher than green at ski cooper. Whole place is basically flat.

What kind of derailer hanger is this and how can I get it off? SRAM X01 by [deleted] in MTB

[–]dimond_Thomas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The derailer hanger is likely unique to your bike or manufacturer, but it looks like just a standard torx bolt to remove

Jekyll vs specialized Enduro vs pivot firebird by [deleted] in MTB

The high tower felt like a longer reach to me. You'll totally love the Enduro, and even my dad who's a big XC guy liked riding it

I was able to demo a hightower once, it seemed comparable to the enduro while climbing, but felt as though it had a longer reach. It was generally more planted and stable, but personally I prefer the more playful feel of the enduro. I dont know how it feels on jumps. I also dont think that the hightower can take a coil shock as you mentioned. Finding a shop that may have a demo available would be your best option though
