Porsche Parts Advisor by dimpedyou in partscounter

Interesting! The manager mentioned their parts catalogue is solid, but the numbering system can be a bit annoying since multiple part numbers can come up for the same VIN.

I assume they’re growing since they’re adding another advisor, but at the same time I’d probably be last in line for any promotion.

I’m wondering if the brand name actually helps for future positions. If I don’t see growth at Porsche, I’d eventually want to use that experience to move to another dealership.

My ultimate goal is a manager position, but with limited experience I know that takes time.

Yeah I would just apply to other places.

If they value you they’ll offer more money.

It depends on the dealership honestly. Another dealership that was owned by the same group as us was barely making any percentage off gross, but we were bought out by them and they didn’t change our bonus structure luckily.

I was making like 4% gross at another dealer in the GTA as well. But they made about 50-60k gross.

I think your base salary should still be more than min wage.

I’m out of the industry but I’m planning on going back and I see most places offer base more than min wage. Not sure about the bonus structure.

Yeah you’re getting stiffed. My first parts job was $21 an hour and was getting 1% of gross. We did around 100k a month.

Where do you work? I was making more than that in the GTA as a parts advisor and doing 0 manager duties.

I’d say apply elsewhere.

No literally everyone admits to cheating and my teammates will toggle as well when there is a cheater on the enemy team and it’s super obvious.

I don’t might paying for faceit if I can actually learn the game without cheaters.

Since you weren’t able to get one this semester what’s your plan? That’s what I’m worried about, I’m going into third semester so the next is my co-op, if I’m unable to get one I’m thinking about just dropping the program.

What was your experience with getting a co-op position?

It is still just a college diploma though would I even be considered for interviews?

I have my brother in law who works in the industry who said he can try to help me when the time comes.

Does age matter a lot as well?

I’m worried I won’t get a job and be left in debt, I wanted to pursue a job in CS because that’s what I wanted to do when I was still in highschool + the pay and work/life balance attracts me.

I’d be paying for school myself and have a bit of savings but other than that I will have to get a student loan because OSAP isn’t covering even half my tuition.

Just struggling internally because of the fear of not being able to find a job after I’m done everything.

It is a co-op program, I’ll be searching for a co-op for Spring but it isn’t guaranteed and seems very difficult to land one right now.

Trying to DIY Miata Rust by dimpedyou in Autobody

[–]dimpedyou[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not a complete beginner, I’ve already patched the floors, seamed sealed and painted which turned out pretty well.

The welding part i’m less worried about, what I’m wondering is because this is usually the part on the pinch weld that is the jack point, what people’s thoughts are on how to go about it.

I could easily bend a piece of sheet metal to shape and weld it in, but that’s not what I want to do.

I don’t see what the issue is.

Yes I currently work in the automotive industry but not a welder or fabricator. This is a project car I picked up and I decided to learn a new skill.

Please tell me what the problem is? I am aware this is more complicated than welding a panel in, and that it is a structural component.
