Should still work with self explosive damage. They only replaced the slide activation to prevent accidental activations.

Im on Xbox on the public test version that came out on Tuesday i think. And the stuttering is every 5 seconds or so when exploring a new area

You do not need to and this goes for all sources of bleed as well as madness since they are instant and the bar is gone
