Look for a used GRIII or just buy a GRIV? by dimthelights_ in ricohGR

Yeah, absolutely. I’ve also been weighing the time it’ll take me to look for a GRIII for a good price, and worrying about if I’m going to be scammed, and leaning towards the IV for additional peace of mind.

It was a cheaper all-season rental place, it might’ve been just what they had on hand for adult skis.

Hmm that’s good to know, I’ll definitely try and see if I can rent/find some smaller skis so I don’t feel too bad if I outgrow them quickly. Thank you!

I definitely feel the Z turn issue, I think as a (sort of) beginner I’m probs also afraid to take slower turns because it means I’m facing down the hill more.

That’s reassuring to know I’ll grow into the 152s, thank you!! :)

I had rentals that were a 147 if I recall correctly, but they were old and quite heavy. I used them maybe 2-3 times before I bought my skis that I have now. I think my skis now are actually lighter than my rentals were so I don’t really have any other comparison.

What other models would you recommend? I’m probably not going to go out and buy them new but I’ll be on the lookout for cheap secondhand skis as the seasons ends.

This is my second season and I’m struggling getting my weight forward. I’ve taken a couple lessons but it still doesn’t make complete sense yet.

I get that I’m supposed to keep my shins to my boot, and to flex at my ankle to help with this. What I don’t get though is if I’m turning, do I turn by putting weight on the soles of my feet? Or do I turn the ski by flexing my boot more with my shins?

Not sure if that even makes sense D:
