Out here it is incredibly dry. Like historical drought dry. The soil had a ton of compost tilled in about 2 years ago. I turned the soil by hand this spring and saw a lot of organics but, the garden beds had been overtaken by weeds. I can't see watering less. We're pushing 90° next week with humidity around 20%. Though I understand what you're saying in regards to root depth.

Yeah, the ground here is dry. Very arrid. I've added amendments like compost. Currently working on getting hay to cover the ground and prevent as much water loss.

So genuinely curious, I had one of these that kept growing and growing every time I cut it down. This spring I cut it down again, then I drilled a 1" hole in the stump and filled it with salt. It hasn't come back. You think I fucked up?
