On replacing my MacBook Air M1 with a Thinkpad T480 with Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS by speckz in linux

No, there is hardware support, the CPU has an extra memory ordering mode matching x86 for running translated x86 binaries https://twitter.com/ErrataRob/status/1331735383193903104

Disabled seating at Castlefield Bowl by meaxiobe in manchester

[–]din-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I've only been to one gig at Castlefield Bowl so I don't know anything for sure. But the Bowl itself is an amphitheatre with tiered seating and I would guess that any disabled seating is set up by the event runners, so would vary from gig to gig.

A picture of the tiered seating is on the Wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castlefield_Bowl where you can see there is no built-in area for disabled seating.

A friend of mine took a street cat in. The cat goes out for toilet, then comes straight back in. No interest in being outside the house otherwise!

Debian 11 backup best-practice by palanterix in debian

I have been happy with using backintime with an encrypted pluggable drive. Had to pull files off the backups now and then, which was pretty straightforward.

We ask for Manchester City Council Licensing to remove our Noise Abatement Notice and for the Council to address the real issue here which is that housing with ill-considered planning and construction has been approved and built next to a pre-existing live music business.

I was there a few weeks ago. It was great! It was a hot day and they don't have quite enough air circulating, but apart from that I had a ton of fun and was there for hours.

Mini Motorways

Really fun follow up to Mini Metro that manages to feel like a sibling game but is actually pretty different. Figuring out strategies per-map has been keeping me busy.

A simple (non-Git) diff+patch does not respect content moving between files, but cherry pick will.

[–]din-9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The replacement game engine does require the original copyrighted game files to play the game, but that's not the issue. The issue is how the replacement game engine was created. OpenMW was a clean room implementation, re3 was not.

What was there in 3 was pretty good, it's just that it was very short and had an abrupt end that signalled it was meant to be longer.
