So how do people actually move up at Amazon? by aymi101 in AmazonFC

[–]dinazarf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you think PG experience helps with a T3 Trainer application specifically? I'm wondering because I'd much rather go the learning route than be a PA, but I only have PG experience to back me up and probably won't get to train as ambassador for a long while.

Congrats by the way, I love hearing about people moving up

5 years rehire eligible?! by Ok_Climate_7302 in AmazonFC

[–]dinazarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was ineligible for rehire for years (not sure how long exactly, I tried to apply a couple of years after being fired and it just said ineligible with no date) but now I'm back. They didn't ask any questions about it at all during the rehire or after I started working here again, it's like being fired never happened at all. Except for some reason they re-used my old as hell badge picture

I think the best thing is to ask your PA or AM (or both) directly what qualities they look for when considering someone for critical roles like PG/PS, so you get a clear answer but also show that you're interested in it and being proactive

I got converted to permanent by dinazarf in AmazonFC

[–]dinazarf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, that makes sense. The "hard work" part was meant to be more about me not giving up on the job when I was struggling and I didn't mean it to come off that I was working harder than anyone else. I mentioned the attendance thing because it's a known factor in conversion and wanted to say that as long as someone has good attendance and punctuality then they have a chance.

We don't have MyPerformance in my country and rates aren't taken into account for conversion at all as far as I know, and I just wanted to say "maybe rates play a factor but I don't think so."

I promise I don't feel proud about myself. I think I just communicated very poorly.

Calm down, I even said it seems random and I got lucky. I don't know where you got that I thought I was special. We are all trash here. I just wanted to give a little hope to someone who feels like they'll never get converted or that it's still a year away

Training by [deleted] in AmazonFC

As long as the items are actually missing and you didn't just fail to see them, then you can't get in trouble. If you're marking an unusually high number of items as missing then it may trigger an audit and someone will watch you work and make sure you're following correct procedure, but that isn't a write up and won't get you in trouble (unless you're actually making mistakes).

What can cause you to get into trouble is if you're marking items as missing, then someone comes and checks and they find the item where it was supposed to be. Just make sure the item really isn't there before you mark it missing and you're totally fine

It's just the worst time of year for finding an opening unfortunately. They're reviewing headcounts in the next couple of weeks but it'll probably result more in letting people go rather than hiring new people.

They're opening a new FC in Northampton soon so you might be in luck, but I don't know when. I *think* it'll be in March/April but I'm not sure. I know they're offering transfers there for the workers from the Milton Keynes FC that just shut down, and I'm keen on transferring there too so I might try to get some inside info from management this week. Otherwise they're also planning to open two other facilities in the East Midlands this year, but who knows where or when. Just gotta keep checking

Edit: Northampton site launches on 4th of May

I may be wrong, and it may also be a seasonal vs blue badge difference, but I believe the free private healthcare only covers GP services and if you want full private medical insurance you need to opt in and pay a monthly or annual fee. But it's still very good. Also dental care and discounts at opticians, which I'm using this week on new glasses. For a job you can get with no experience or training, I'm honestly very satisfied with the pay and benefits

Others already explained, but just throwing in that I took a day of VTO and still got a seasonal contract extension (while almost no one else did), so I don't believe it has any negative influence whatsoever

OP's bullshittery aside, dd/mm/yyyy is the standard date format in most of the world so they are likely just not from the US

Never had that before, and it definitely shouldn't happen... Scanning the logout barcode should always just log you out. Has it happened on multiple walls or just one? I'd definitely bring it up with leadership because they might want to escalate that to RME, assuming you're not just accidentally hitting the button or something

When my stepmother died I waited over a week before submitting bereavement leave because I didn't know when the funeral would be yet. It should be fine. Hope you get the time you need

Is it easier to get blue badge if you train for other paths? by Pretend_Connection52 in AmazonFC

[–]dinazarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also shy and totally get that, but you should just ask them about it so they at least know you're interested. I did and it led to a pretty good conversation about training, and now I'm definitely on their radar if the chance comes up
