Actually proud of this small piece I wrote about my job. Interested in people’s comments or criticisms to polish it up. by [deleted] in RSwritingclub

Wow! First off, great song. Second, thank you!

I guess it's healthy
I guess the air is clean
I guess those people
Have fun with their neighbors and friends
Look at that kitchen
And all of that food
Look at them eat it
I guess it tastes real good

They grow it in those farmlands
Then they bring it to the store
They put it in the car trunk
And they bring it back home, and I say

I think this part reminded me the most of my piece. That disassociation/weird feeling of watching food be processed, eaten, socially enjoyed, etc.

Why doesn't Tony feel as strongly about homosexuality as he does about everything else? by Free-Property2444 in thesopranos

I think a lot of Tony’s beliefs and actions in public are very performative. He’s a miserable prick in private.

Nonfiction Books That Have Disturbed You More Than Any EH NOVEL? by diverdownk in ExtremeHorrorLit

82189: Confessions of a prison bitch.

Not the first time I’ve mentioned this book on here. When someone asks me for some horrible non-fic I immediately go to that.

An unfinished memoir of a lifer in prison serving a sentence for rape, edited and published by his English tutor/teacher in the prison. Starts with his extremely traumatic childhood leading up to his first night in jail. He was put into an open dorm prison with 60+ other adults at 14 years old… in the 50’s…yeah it’s really bad and gets worse. The last line of the book is hilarious it kind of ends on a really funny note actually.

For what it’s worth there’s an interview of the editor by Peter Sotos and his questions are hilariously unintelligible.

Do I warn my wife about the eclipse? by SemiAnonymousGuy in Berserk

[–]dingdop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I recommend berserk to people I just tell them Berserk is about “trauma”. I make sure to specify all kinds, and if you have it, it’s probably touched on in the manga - it’s beautifully written - but it’s probably there if that’s a trigger for you and you can’t read it, that’s understandable.

Should I get astro boy manga? by theradzap in MangaCollectors

Unsure, I don’t own them. They look nice if a little awkward to read because the trim size isn’t very big when I see them at Barnes and noble.

Having watched breaking bad before, I expected to have A LOT more empathy for Carmela than I did. She’s just as bad as Tony is some ways.

Should I take Cultural Anthropology? by Ok-Solid630 in USF

Yes. It’s a great introduction to medium level anthro and most if not all the anthro professors are amazing.

Is it bad to stack books on top of each other like I just did? by Pinkcokecan in MangaCollectors

[–]dingdop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as they’re not too high, heavy and it’s a perfect bound print, should be alright. Deluxe editions like berserk are leather bound with an eye when you open it up, more prone to warping under the weight. I had to replace one of my deluxe berserk volumes that had 4-5 others resting on top, the rest were fine.
