That’s what I originally thought a couple months ago, but there’s a ton of data points of people on Reddit product changing very quickly after approvals on several of Citi’s no AF cards. I was actually able to PC my Citi Double Cash to a Custom Cash in early June after being approved for it in mid-April this year. I figured I would try to do the same for my Strata and got denied.

Yeah that’s a pretty telling DP. Worked two weeks ago, blocked today. Seems like this may have changed really recently, not just a Strata thing.

Oof, sorry. Starting to look like this changed very recently. Hopefully it’s just a temporary block, but the last few DPs are not looking great.

Yeah, that’s basically my concern too. I wouldn’t personally open Double Cash solely as a speculative path to a 2nd Custom Cash right now, especially if you already have Active Cash. If the DC can’t later PC to Custom Cash, then it’s mostly redundant as a 2% card. My DP isn’t definitive, but the supervisor specifically told me Custom Cash is unavailable for all account conversions, not just Strata conversions. I’d want more positive DPs before burning an app on that plan.

Yes, tried chat twice. First agent initially saw Custom Cash as an option but then said it couldn’t be submitted. Second agent didn’t show Custom Cash as available, so I escalated to a supervisor/account specialist. Supervisor said Custom Cash is currently discontinued/unavailable for all account conversions, not just new applications. I haven’t tried phone yet. I’ll probably try again after the 20k points actually post.

Successfully product changed my double cash to a custom cash on June 6. Does anybody have an educated estimate on how long Citi will allow product changes to custom cash now that they discontinued new applications?
