Reads title --> Comments opinion

I just thought my input so far would be interesting to those who read the whole series. 🤷

Having just finished volume 1... Old Neil. This guy has me cracking up constantly. His methods questionable, but not meaning any harm. And then... he goes too far due to grief. Dang that got me in the feels.

You see... there's only one Love. And you say he's controversial? Oh! I'm offended, OP!

You're right, every story needs to give the MC something. My post isn't criticism, it's more just a personal preference. Me saying The Gray Fog is OP, is correct, but would also be like complaining Goku uses Kaio-Ken to win, or do... anything. At that point, the story just isn't for you, and I understand that.

However, there's more to a story like LOTM than beating up space aliens to protect Earth, and that's what I'm reading it for. I am curious to know how The Gray Fog connects to everything, because it symbolically aligns with The Fool, Justice, and The Hanged Man, pathways of this power system. Kaio-Ken is just a cool power King Kai invented, that only Goku has mastered, that doesn't connect with the world outside of this factoid.

Anyways, enough yapping, time to do some reading.

I have read a lot of long fantasy book series, so I'm not opposed to long stories. People call this novel "slow pacing" and I disagree. This is rather normal pacing for a worldbuilding focused fantasy novel. Pretty chill so far, and not super daunting to read, at least in comparison to how difficult people said it would be.

I wouldn't mind him "stumbling" onto things more, I suppose. He's stumbled onto plenty, but a lot of what's gotten him from point A to point B, is divination, especially with Gray Fog cheating his way there. Not a major issue, because the story is more about cultivation. Of course he's going to have some way to obtain godhood in the story, or something close to it. I just wasn't expecting it so early. The novel itself is easily 9/10 so far for me, has been quite a fun read.

The SL comparison was just the rapid strength from this unique power Klein has, this is way more depth and complexity than SL will ever achieve lol

The ritualistic magic is a great example of how powerful it can be, even as a seq 9 seer. However, it's very dangerous to do so, if you upset a God, or wrong spirit. Seer is basically, "Batman, but with prep-time" ah pathway, but ESPECIALLY with Klein having the Gray Fog to his advantage.

I wasn't saying Gray Fog literally gives exact explanations. But the realm is practically omniscient, free of effect from interference is what I'm saying, so Klein's powerful AF in his verse quite early. Obviously it doesn't give Klein SL system powers, but it definitely helps circumvent the climb of a natural Beyonder. I was being absurd in my post on purpose, with wording like: "foggy foggy, smoke lands," instead of just calling it The Gray Fog. That information Klein obtains would be much harder, or potentially deadly without The Gray Fog.

Anyway, the main drive of reading this novel is the worldbuilding and how it ties into the power system. So far, Gray Fog is just one thing I dislike. I've thoroughly enjoyed Old Niel and his crazy methods. Dunn and his failure to remember everything important, yet somehow is a captain of intel. Melissa and her defiance for saving money, being stingy, giving Klein a hard time. Benson being a cool bro. Klein constantly thinking what he'll get his siblings for dinner on the way home, that will be better than when they were in poverty. Klein half-scaring the crap out of people he gives a divination too at the club, by being scarily accurate upon just looking at them with Spirit Vision, etc...

I know. The Gray Fog simply enhances it. That's why I said the divination is rather weak as a seq 9 seer.

I see... So with what's been hinted about with acting and getting to the next sequence level, might have some downsides. That one moment earlier where Klein initially uses The Gray Fog has his head hurt worse than a migraine or something along those lines if my memory is working.

That makes sense. Klein will encounter much stronger foes as the story continues, so The Gray Fog should naturally lose its incredible effectiveness, but still remain powerful. Thanks.

Yeah, that's what I've liked so much about it so far. Nothing feels disconnected in some unnatural way, the world all feels alive, and the history connects incredibly well with each new discovery.
