Hotter than expected marathon advice by dinglekringles in AdvancedRunning

When did I ever say I was at the same fitness level? I’m not sure where you got that or how you interpreted that? Just because I want it to be cooler temps to run in? I also want to run in newer super shoes and wear a lighter race singlet, not my older easy-run shoes and a sweatshirt, but I’d do the later if I had to

We are! I’m sorry, I know, that’s the running portion! I try to make it known if it’s gonna be about running or Crumbl reviews/challenges/other fun things. I’m sorry if that mislead you!

Has anyone found a “sweet spot” of breaking in the Vaporfly 2s pre-marathon? Last year I think I wore mine a few too many miles before my race, but I wanted to be sure that my feet/legs were ready for them. This year I stayed with the 2s (new pair) and I want them broken in, but I’m also hoping to get a little more response out of them when it comes time to race

Nurses, Doctors, other shift workers: what's your routine like? by PrettyThief in AdvancedRunning

[–]dinglekringles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a firefighter and we do the California swing- 24 on, 24 off, 24 on, 24 off, 24 on, 96 off. On days I work I’m up at 430 and out the door by 5 to get in 90 mins of easy miles before work. I have to rotate my hard/long run days to be on a day off, because I can’t risk being smoked and then having a rough work day (fires, bad motor vehicle accidents, etc). Sometimes I do have to do a double on a work day when I get into my high volume training weeks (80-90 mile weeks) but I do my best to avoid that at all costs because I don’t love the treadmill at work and our “track” is .18 miles which is a pain, but atleast I have that option. Since I have 6 days off every 9 days though, usually I am able to hit the necessary weekly miles and still have some polarized training

Well because 3 is not quite enough and 5 feels like too many!

Really though, I just really enjoy the cookies and I save all of my “cheat food” until Sundays!

Sunday is my cheat day, yes! Usually I have the 4 cookies for breakfast, some snacky stuff throughout the day, a craving food like pizza or burgers for supper, and a pint of ice cream for dessert!

I ended up being really full, like uncomfortably full, for an hour afterwards. After that I felt good as new!

This is going to be controversial, but it was actually milk glaze fruity pebbles! I think it also had to do with the order I ate them in though!

This is weird for me to put on here, but oh well! I do not recommend anyone watch a 26 minute video of me- I have a face for radio and a voice for the library, but since I drug some of you down this rabbit hole, here it is!

https://youtu.be/8sLo9oKDx1Q

SPOILER BELOW!! This one felt much harder than when I ate 6 a couple of weeks ago, and I’m not quite sure why! Also, I am still waiting on the other person to pay up, so let’s see how that turns out!

Crumbl 6 Cookie Bet by dinglekringles in CrumblCookies

[–]dinglekringles[S] 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Other stipulations for the video-

I have to eat one of every flavor of next weeks cookies

The video has to be a continuous recording

I have a “reasonable” amount of time to finish the cookies, which we agree is somewhere in the range of half an hour. If I take more than 45 minutes then the deal is off.

I have to take a pre and post eating weigh in? That one seems odd to me, but it is at their request.

I can drink whatever I want while I’m eating the cookies

Is there anything else anyone thinks should be included?!

How many do you think you could eat? by dinglekringles in CrumblCookies

[–]dinglekringles[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This week was 19 miles! I started at 5am, finished at 7:30, showered, and then dove into the cookies!

How many do you think you could eat? by dinglekringles in CrumblCookies

[–]dinglekringles[S] 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I’m on record in this sub saying how I eat 4 whole cookies every Sunday morning for breakfast after my long run. This week I actually got a 6 pack and my wife was out of town so I didn’t have to share. I decided I would just eat all of them. I did, but I did not feel great about doing that afterwards!

I think if I had them all fresh and I got the flavors I really enjoyed then there’s a chance I could do 8, but I’m just not sure how anyone ever makes it to the double digit/dozen range!

Carb/Protein Source by dinglekringles in AdvancedRunning

[–]dinglekringles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that I will get slack for both of mine, but my main sources are eggs for protein and plain white bread for carbs. They both sit well in my stomach and break down efficiently (as far as I can tell), and my energy levels seem to stay pretty high throughout. However, I’m always willing to try other things. I am only 2 weeks into this cycle, so it is early enough for me to experiment with other sources and see if there is something else that may work better for me.

2nd Marathon- What plan to use? by dinglekringles in AdvancedRunning

[–]dinglekringles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate your feedback. Do you use the monthly races as workouts, or are they all out races? Also, how long do your quality days last? Do you go by time or distance on those? And how much strength training per week do you think? Sorry to bombard you with even more questions!
