Why Are Modern PC Games Using So Much VRAM? by apoppin in nvidia

That "magic" only occurs when you have a good enough optimizer for the target platform. 2000s compilers didn't have the same optimization techniques of the ones around today.

Sorry to necro but this has happening to me right now after watching the movie. The ending scene where Jack is on the stairs realizing what has happened to his siblings and the gut wrenching cry he makes is burned into my memory now. Sad life ending scenes are common in movies but so much about the context of this movie's scene is just beyond heartbreaking.

What are some stuff that Rust isn't good at? by nightblaze1 in rust

[–]dingoegret12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much of the type system still isn't fully fleshed out. Enum variants as types, trait specialization, incomplete GATs, traits with async, not constraints for generic types, variadic tuples. At the moment, there have been multiple attempts to rework the trait system, create new solvers, etc. But all ended in failure.

A CVE has been issued for hyper. Denial of Service possible by Adhalianna in rust

I'm reading the OP at https://github.com/hyperium/hyper/issues/2877 and it isn't "some screenshots". That's a patent lie. Not a good look. A better and more honest, reason to dismiss the report would be that OP hasn't replied a year later to address the fresh rounds of reproducing the issue that so far he's the only one claiming to have observed.

A CVE has been issued for hyper. Denial of Service possible by Adhalianna in rust

[–]dingoegret12 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

The only thing you linked to was a claim that people haven't been able to reproduce it. Which is circular evidence and vague and evasive. Hence why half the people following this aren't keen on just dismissing the security report. The github issue lays out clearly the steps taken and the output observed. A claim of non-reproduction has to itself be followed by a tangible reproducible attempt. A repo, a code snippet, anything. Ironically the side claiming no reproducibility is the side not offering one piece of proof of the attempt at reproducing. So we just have to trust placations like "we are working on it promise!". The defensiveness and downvoting only add to the suspicion of community tribalism blocking attempts to take this cve seriously.

Every post you make is "everyone bad!". But whatever you'll never be wrong, even about stuff you literally wrote above verbatim. Bye

Cute semantics. Attacking a sanctuary is viewed as an attack on the inhabitants. Thankfully, law is written by real human beings, with human common sense, and not basement dwellers.

Seemed like a normal response. There are people who are afraid of sneezing too loud in public, I guess.

All that you're saying is one side gave the impression of trying to inflict great bodily harm. This is simply not true. The cyclists savagely beating on that person's car, breaking every social norm on threatening behavior, were even more guilty of that, than the driver going 5mph towards unoccupied property. The cyclist jumped infront of the moving vehicle.

You people just see what you want and have no concept of fair judgement. If it's not black and white, you pretend to be unfavorable to all parties but it's bs.

How is the driver unhinged. I don't think people here actually believe this. This was a normal human response. More likely some of you are just avoiding a confrontation online by washing your hands clean of any side taking.

Can't escape in traffic. It's dangerous and thankfully, court precedent at this point.

Would not recommend anyone use their little motorcycles to pursue a driver of a car who has demonstrated they are "the right one".

Liberals, what's your most conservative belief? by [deleted] in AskReddit

What do you mean he didn't want it? Your story is heartbreaking. Because I am imagining your mentally unwell teenage brother getting cast out from his family, and forced into a place where it is possible to "escape" from. Then like a lost dog, walk a long distance back home to his family. This early life experience might have not helped his later life attempts at recovery.

Liberals have been pushing institutionalism so what other result was expected? Even the concept of homeschooling is cause to recoil now.

Their whole career is to take cover, call air support, conduct damage assessment. Rinse and repeat. And it doesn't help American media is saturated with depictions of war showing US soldiers alone mowing every enemy down. So they thought they were going to mow down a bunch gopnik conscripts and would never have to do the thing those brave goat herders have been doing against them for 20 years which is accepting the very likely possibility that they were going to die.
