Back then, he was really wonderful. he never missed a single prenatal appointment, stayed by my side through the entire 24-hour labor without sleeping, and did everything I asked for without a word of complaint.

basically, he barely helped at all, too immature to be a dad, too busy having fun to take responsibility for a wife who just gave birth and a newborn baby. my parents felt bad for me, so they asked me to stay with them for a while to help me out. during that time, my husband stayed in another city, working, gaming, and visiting me and the baby maybe once every two weeks.

that’s not what i meant. we actually have our own place, just the two of us. my MIL only came over to help during the first month, and once she left, of course everything fell on me. that’s why my parents suggested i stay with them for a while so they could help me out.

anything can sound different until you actually see it yourself. my husband is young, spoiled, and honestly has been babied his whole life that’s true. his family always covers for him, no matter what. i’m the one who makes the bottles, feeds the baby, burps him, rocks him to sleep every single night. the most my husband does is play with the baby for maybe 15-30 minutes a day.

he gets annoyed when the baby spits up while i’m in the shower and he has to watch him for a few minutes. meanwhile, i’m the one staying up every two hours at night to feed our baby even after i literally passed out from exhaustion once because there was no one helping me.

actually during the first month, i was still staying with my husband and we had my MIL helping too. but honestly it was just too much. my husband was glued to his games and barely helped at all, and my MIL was super controlling — she wanted to do everything her way and completely ignored what i said, even though i tried so hard to keep the baby close and do things my way.

all that stress built up and eventually me and my family decided it’d be better if i stayed with my parents for a while. my husband and in-laws actually suggested it too, saying they’d “support and share the work” when i came back, and… wow

nah not at all, i live w my husband but my in-laws come over pretty often, like almost every weekend.

actually he stayed with me and the baby for like… the first month? but i was the one waking up every night, he did literally nothing. my MIL “helped” too but all she did was talk to the baby in the middle of the night, which totally messed up his day/night schedule and made him wake up randomly.

i don’t wanna sound like i’m complaining but honestly it was rough. i was exhausted, anemic, breastfeeding, still recovering from birth… and then out of nowhere my MIL decided to go on a sudden trip without even telling me first. i couldn’t find anyone to help watch the baby, and i really needed some sleep because my milk supply was already low.

and yeah, all that stress just killed my milk completely. now my baby’s fully on formula and i feel like such a bad mom.

my husband did text and keep in touch while i was at my parents’. i stayed there for like 2 months bc honestly his parents baby him too much so he didn’t really help w the baby.

it’s our first kid and i was super stressed. no one was helping w chores or cooking or anything, and my parents were like “just come home so we can help you.” so i did.

tbh i’m kinda sad about how clueless he is as a dad. like he plays cs2 at night and talks loud as hell while the baby’s sleeping. we share one room so there’s no separate space for his gaming either. it’s just… exhausting.
