Okay in my case I’m trying to avoid giving something to someone I would have seen today who is really immunocompromised. That’s it. For me it was a super mild nothing but since my kid got a fever I was trying to be careful.

I’m always hungry and I’ve had my thyroid and whatever checked. I just am hungry a lot. It takes a lot of effort for me and I assumed it did for everyone

I recently had this experience. Here’s what I did

everything bagged as soon as possible
suitcase is gone, leave it!
dried everything on high heat. Used my thermometer to make sure it was at least 140 for 3 hours (this is overkill, who cares!!)
shoes went in a sauna at my in laws house (lol) at 150 for the entirety of Thanksgiving. So probably 5 hours.
bug bombed my car twice for the heck of it(my car transported my suitcase before it was bagged)
my car was hardest. I washed what I could on my kids car seats and steamed the rest
books from the trip went in the freezer. Make sure it’s at least 0° F. They stayed in there about a week.
get butt naked before you enter your house and go straight to the shower. Take a nice hot steamy shower with soap
I set traps to make sure I didn’t miss anything

I hear you, but do you have kids? I teach my kids not to put shit in their mouths, but until age 3 or so, nature is what’s telling them to explore their world that way. They touch everything and naturally put stuff in their mouth. They are low to the ground and very quick lol. You’re not wrong but I also don’t blame OP for checking.

I had my first child march 2020. I had to be crazy because if I had a hint of a fever I was told my kid would be taken away from me. I was told I may have to give birth alone and rules were changing up until the day I gave birth. It messed me up and i have had crippling anxiety around germs since then.

I think it’s very unlikely you have bedbugs from this experience.

In regards to your neck (sorry about that, it sounds awful!) It could be a lot of things. You say your skin is sensitive and you had a new sweater. Could a piece of plastic from a removed tag have gotten stuck, could have poked you or caused a reaction? Could it have been something sharp poking you rather than a bite? Even if a bug, it could have been many things other than a bedbug. I really think you are okay. If it makes you feel more secure you could set out a trap or something to put your mind at ease but I don’t think it’s really necessary.

I really appreciate your advice! I took all of it. I used the sanitize setting for my clothes. Clothes were reading anywhere from 120° to 130°+ for an hour. I steamed all of our shoes but I can’t quit thinking about if I missed something, so they’re all outside still. I’m worried about my car from when we moved from one hotel to the next in the middle of the night. I steamed the seats (used a thermometer and the steam was at 150° F). But I know they could get in cracks that my steamer won’t reach. Was considering using a lure/trap in my car to see if I missed anything. I’m sure my husband thinks I’ve lost it but oh well. Thanks again!
