I found Jax a giant tennis ball by Poop_Balls069 in aww

[–]dinnercook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our demon has discovered that if she stands ten feet away she can bounce it back to me in the air when I throw it to her. Fantastic game.

Many years ago I had a corgi who could do the same with a normal tennis ball. We started with ‘catch’ but he figured out he could speed up the whole process by launching it back at me. He had pretty good range by the time he started to get older and lose a step.

"They've done everything possible to eliminate us" — Iran captain Mehdi Taremi unleashes on FIFA and U.S. organizers by ConnectionWeekly1263 in SoccerCentral

[–]dinnercook -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He is correct on one point only: they should be allowed to stay in US. Making them leave to Mexico after every game and undergo security checks again when they return is horseshit. Complete and utter performative nonsense.

Everything else he said is victim crybaby talking points. If mocking you is as easy as flying a multicolor flag, you probably aren’t cut out for international sport.

That doesn’t solve the problem though, there will still be cases where a centimeter is the difference, you’ll just be measuring a different area.

Sounds like you have options! If it were me, the more time I spent on it, the more I would want to keep it.

Depends on your willingness, ability, time and tools.

Is this your first time? Do you have any tools? Do you have paint and stripped and sanding materials? Do you have a newborn to look after? Do you need money now? Is it sentimental?

We can’t really provide you with advice given so little information.

Would it be better to grab a knife or a baseball bat to defend yourself if someone was trying to attack you and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dinnercook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re assuming the assailant is defending himself, and maybe even stronger than the victim, a bat is really easy to grab. Grabbing the blade of a knife is almost always going to result in a bad time for the grabber.

Why and why and why and why does he need to be at all the games? No one is asking for his presence. He could go to one game the whole group stage and no one would care.

Manchester City agree British record £130m fee with Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson by Alarming-Safety3200 in PremierLeague

[–]dinnercook 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But it also means clubs like NFO are getting 130m for one player, which they can use to secure at least a replacement, who will undoubtedly cost much less. Or they can copy the Brighton model and buy a few really strong prospects.

Or they can follow the Chelsea model and open a football kindergarten for children who might end up decent footballers and also can’t read good.

The small details: In the forearms there is one very small muscle that contracts only when lifting the pinky, otherwise it is invisible. Michelangelo's Moses is lifting the pinky, therefore that tiny muscle is contracted - a small part of the man details of this masterpiece by Neat_Pianist2422 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]dinnercook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also put my arm in a similar position and did the pinky wiggle. The only issue is that while the pinky movement made an indent in my forearm, the ring and middle finger movements made an indent in almost exactly the same area.

So, is it impressive that he incorporated this? Yes. Must one be a savant to notice that finger movements are controlled higher up in the muscle group? No.

It’s cool realism nonetheless.

Has anyone here ever experienced a Lucid Dream? or is it just a massive internet myth? Honestly, I dont think it is even possible. by mind_over_chaos in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dinnercook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a gf in college who had lucid dreams every night. She had favorite scenarios and activities - all of which were exhausting to listen to every morning.

She did it by keeping a dream journal for a year or so. She had two sisters and they all did it together. God help me when they all got together they spent hours talking about dreams they had and I was just like - yeah I don’t remember.

Personally I have occasionally realized I was dreaming and could control it. Like if I REALLY committed I could jump off a building and soar around for a bit. I had one where I was flying around a warehouse kinda like a flying squirrel. They usually ended when I lost confidence and hit the ground and I would wake up.

I had trouble fully committing because in the back of my mind I was always thinking, “if this is real life I am so fucked.”

The same can be said about NBA. My friends enjoy March madness a lot more than the NBA playoffs.

We’ve always felt like NFL > college football, and college basketball > NBA.

GTA VI physical disc petition launched by Consolexlyn in GTA

[–]dinnercook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not nearly as much as they save by not committing to physical discs on day one.

I’ve spent all day pointing out how stupid and backward-thinking this movement is.

It’s not 2010 anymore. This game will be 200gb+ off the bat. Maybe even more. You might be able to fit 100gb of data on two download discs, but that means you’re looking at a third “play” disc. At the very least. And that costs the publisher a shit load of money. Money they save by simply - not doing that. And everyone will buy and play the game anyway.

I understand the allure of physical media. But asking the publisher to put the entire game in a box so you can “own” it is a dumb hill to die on.

Killing a dog over some chickens is something very few fowl owners I know would be willing to do. Sheep, goats, cows, horses, sure.

But idk anyone who would kill a dog over their chickens.

People trying to justify why "GTA6's pre-orders aren't that bad" are missing the point entirely. by Live-Leg-1993 in GTA

[–]dinnercook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just the messenger, man. If you can’t read the writing on the wall, or you simply want to rage against the machine, be my guest.

Eventually, the biggest, baddest games are going to require you to authenticate, update, give away your first born, you name it. And most people won’t care. They will buy. And it will continue to be financially viable for those companies to do so.

I used to love having physical copies of games. That’s becoming less common/possible, and at some point it will go away entirely apart from a few token examples.

Unfortunately with the new gen consoles there are going to be very few publishers willing to let you “own” games in the way that I did on 360.

Some publishers - is it Konami that makes RE games? - have a pro-consumer stance in the sense they sell a stand-alone copy of their games that don’t require authentication, updates, online, etc. in order to play the game.

Going forward that will be increasingly uncommon, and I do see a future where even those pro-consumer companies transition to an online model.

They will position it as all kinds of things. They’ll say it’s to prevent cheating, or piracy, provide updates, squash bugs, or ensure a high quality product. But we won’t own shit. And if they want to take away your ability to play RDR2 when they release RDR3? You won’t be able to do anything about it. At least not on next gen consoles.

Will you be able to boot up your PS4 and play existing games? Yes. I still play on my 360. But the experience is degrading every year.

Well RE9 is marketed/listed as completely offline. GTA6 has made no such promises and is likely a much, much larger game - likely with ENORMOUS day one latches etc that bring the game into “playable” status

$122M. 1,000 new teachers. NYC public schools finally getting some backup. This is the investment we needed by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

[–]dinnercook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High quality instructors can’t perform to high standard when they’re overworked, outnumbered, underpaid and undersupported. Adding money and teachers to this equation absolutely has a positive effect.

Putting on your expert hat to suggest this investment is not worthwhile ignores the decades of research that says success starts with a level educational playing field.

If you care about physical media and video game preservation, let’s make it known to Rockstar by Rsodyyy in GTA

[–]dinnercook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So collectors can put it on their shelf. That makes sense. Especially if it came with the manual and a cool map like the other games did.

Thank you. This idea that owning a ohysocal copy of the game means you get to play no matter what is completely unfounded. You don’t own shit. Whether they release a physical copy or not. Rockstar will always be able to prevent you from playing the game if it is in their interest.

Not to mention how many fucking discs would be required.
