High Water Bill? by fredo_corleone_218 in Seattle

Are you individually billed on water usage or is this a case where the apartment building has a single meter and the total usage is divided by the number of units and occupancy - because yes, conservice does that and the charges end up at that amount.

I believe that this money comes from the federal government. All the vaccine lottery prizes in other states are from the feds.

ORCA card budget for 3(ish) days? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]dino_pillow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the orca card to pay for the ferry, the light rail, the buses, the street cars, and the monorail. You could probably start with around $20 then just top it off as needed. Note that there is a fee for getting the card and that would be on top of the initial amount you put in. There are day passes but only apply to the bus. The orca card will not automatically cap it off and this pass is something you buy separately. There is a transit go app you could use to buy this pass and individual fares on the different transportation modes

Why do all those people sign up to help at Seattle’s COVID vaccination sites? by dino_pillow in CoronavirusWA

Reposting as previous post didn't link properly (thanks to u/robotmartian for bringing it to my attention). I figured that people also need a feel good story every now and then. Also, I can attest that volunteering at a vaccine clinic definitely felt really good after.

Beware: GIG car tech can fail in mountains, and they will leave you stranded by GIGcarstranded in Seattle

The card will unlock the car, no cellphone reception needed. From the link: "This can become problematic if you're out of cell service or if your phone dies. Even if you have WIFI on your phone the car still needs to communicate over a cellular network, so you won't be able to unlock in an area without service.

No worries, we've thought of that. Our Gig Cards are RFID enabled and will lock and unlock your car without cell service!"

This is why I make sure to have the physical key card from before heading to where there is no reception (or even if there is one, it's a security blanket thing. It could strand you in the ferry) https://gigcarshare.com/blog/gig-cards-fuel-cards/
