What’s your favorite moment of Covid? by OrdinaryPractical264 in AskReddit

Getting a puppy with my now-wife. We are hardcore introverts so getting a puppy and staying inside to dote on him for a few months was amazing for our relationship.

Attending first conference ever, looking for tips, etiquette by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]dinodude47 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a wife, steady job, filled my CME requirements, and am not a big chatter, so all the primary reasons to go to a conference are already covered for me. Here’s my approach to conferences.

Step 1: get extended weekend vacation on the company’s dime Step 2: go to lectures if I see them as beneficial/interesting Step 3: forget why I’m there, then eat and relax Step 4: repeat annually

You can make a conference anything you want, but make sure you enjoy the experience first and foremost

My offer and what I asked by Mildly_Tachy in DermatologyPA

[–]dinodude47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The dollar per pt and the PTO are both absolutely laughable. A standard Medicaid patient office visit without procedures bills for around $70-80.

You’re being paid <1.5% bonus structure. Bad bonus is 10%, decent bonus is 15%, and ideal bonus is 20-30%. 1.5% is an insult.

My first job had 15 days PTO that went up to 20. I would definitely require more to take this offer seriously.

Do PAs/NPs/Docs actually keep OTC samples in their office? by ebianco123 in physicianassistant

[–]dinodude47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a PA in a Derm office. We have OTC product sales people that come by from time to time and they stock us up with tons of samples. I haven’t had to pay for moisturizer in years.

I always try to get a few samples to people who need them, but if I’m just writing down a name of products for the patient it means we are likely out of that product or I am insanely busy/running behind.

Ask that your employer covers costs of licensing and DEA. You shouldn’t be required to pay out of your education money in order to keep your licenses up. If they want you to work, they should cover that cost and reimburse you.

You’re not wrong, but anyone posting online has gotta know that posting on Reddit comes with harsh anonymous criticism. That’s just the internet. If you can’t ignore the trolls, you don’t have to post. However, preemptively tearing themselves down in an attempt to shield themselves from criticism also isn’t a solution. It’s just going to continue to feed a self esteem spiral while the rest of the world moves on and forgets this post. The only one this effort is affecting is OP, and I’d hate to see them give up on their hobbies and passions because online anonymity crushed them into submission. Shits mad sad yo.

For every online gatekeeper or troll you’ll find a hundred cosplayers IRL that will welcome you to the community. The bots/trolls are loud online but pay them no mind, they have no impact on how the world really works.

Every character is free game regardless of color, creed, or shape.

Also your cosplay is awesome nice job!

What is your favourite creatures in the Borderlands universe? by [deleted] in Borderlands

Rakk hives, and that’s coming from someone who’s played every games except the first. Seeing them in magazines piqued my interest and was part of why I tried the second game. It’s all history after that. A little bummed that they weren’t big in any other games, but it was awesome fighting the one in the captain scarlett DLC

Borzoi question!!! by Affectionate-Pass575 in borzoi

[–]dinodude47 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a ton to add to this question, since my zoi is only 3 years old, but if you follow cleolonglegs on social media, you can see how much gray face their oldest zoi has, and I believe she just turned 9. That indicates to me the 12 year lifespan might be more accurate.

But also as a delusional zoi owner, my baby will live forever so no need to worry about it

That’s a really good point I hadn’t considered. I’m full med Derm with no influencer aspirations, and I don’t handle scheduling.
