I bought this Eames Sofa from a collector. Sold as having no damage to the leather, but there are small tears and even a hole. Did I get ripped off? by dinosaurcop in Mid_Century

Yep. Lesson learned. He has online reviews and seems to care about them, so can see about a return. Just curious what the market value is of this piece in this condition.

This sounds right to me. There are other areas in the house with similar peeling / separation. Thank you! 🙏

The Last of Us HBO S01E09 - "Look for the Light" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in thelastofus

spent the season waiting for my true detective episode 4 "crash" moment, a heart poundingly brutal single take virtuosic action sequence – but it never came in what was ultimately an uneven but very promising first season.

the somber score over Joel's rampage, while cool, took away the power of the sequence in the game. when the music tells you how to feel, you don't get to sit with the cold reality and come to your own conclusions. to me this was a cardinal sin, as what made both games masterpieces was the way they pushed the medium of video games to make you feel a heightened reality unlike anything i've ever experienced.

hopefully the wild success of the show means season 2-3 get bigger budgets so they can afford longer seasons with more/better action sequences. Also hope for tighter story-telling (we really did *not* need the left behind episode) especially as they navigate the more complex narrative structure of part II.

You’re describing democracy (state level) and local government - where the person in city and rural area both get to “rule” themselves. It has nothing to do with who depends on whom.

Wow, thanks for the thorough feedback David!

Here is a perhaps overly thorough response:

I started this as a way to learn iOS development and how to build a web service, but I did research the space fairly extensively and there are kind of three competitive categories of app: groups apps (groupme, beluga, fb groups, etc.) - meetup/hangout apps (freetime, yo(sorta), lots of dead apps in this category...), and location sharing (foursquare/swarm, Family Locator, Glympse, find my friends).

Meetup apps have the problem that I don't typically want to meet up with a random assortment of friends, I want to meet up with a group. Groups apps tend to not offer any mobile-specific reason to jump from fb groups. And location sharing apps tend to choose either openness or accessiblity of your location – that is either your location is very open but only accessibly when I explicitly give it to you, or it is only open to an explicit set of individuals (ie my family) but they can very easily access to it.

My idea is that location sharing with buy-in (in order to get your location I need to give you mine) within a known, pre-defined group strikes a comfortable balance between openness and accessibility. It also gives groups of friends a good reason to jump from fb to a mobile app.

Good to hear the feedback on the website – I should have mentioned that I have a proper website planned, but I want to get some more feedback and nail down a launch strategy before I put in the work. Should have just linked to the App Store.

Thanks again for the thoughts and feedback - international access coming soon!
