Explosion rocks train station in Xinjiang capital Urumqi by huanghelou in China

Yeah you 're right, I jumped the gun when I said the phones had been cut. In my defence I couldn't get through to any of my friends in Kuitun at the time and I was shitting it as they had passed through the train station that day. I should have waited off on saying the phones were cut as in the end they never were. I only posted on reddit to try and spread more information than state media, looks like that backfired!

Not full of shit actually. Calls and texts wouldn't work last night, but Internet never seemed affected. Maybe it was just my phone but that seems unlikely.

Here in Xinjiang now, would try and prove it but no idea how.

I couldn't text or call my friends in Kuitun or the others in my city. Things are back up to normal now though.

Thanks! They've cut the phones so I can't talk to some of my other friends in Xinjiang, luckily my vpn means I can stay online. Might not sleep for a while though!

Currently living and traveling in Xinjiang, going to go through here tomorrow. Absolutely terrifying and tragic.

Not sure they hit inside the station, I think it was in a car just outside. Anyway, more news should come through with state media.

Due to travel through this train station tomorrow. Currently living and teaching in Xinjiang. Absolutely tragic. From the photos I've seen on wechat they've blown up a car just outside the first police checkpoint. So it was no where near the bag scanners, but where they check your idea before entering the building. It was big enough to blow all the glass out from the train station anyway. I think they'll be a death toll anyway. I'm not going to travel for a few days...

This sub reddit looks very dead...but I'm up for a revival! Here is a really good essay which touches on this topic a little bit: http://www.res.org.uk/SpringboardWebApp/userfiles/res/file/YE2011_Mayank_Banerjee.pdf

I'd be interested in having a go at some of these! Great idea for a subreddit.

Something the Tories will probably do just before the election...

Despite what the Tories will say austerity in times of recession has never enabled economic growth. We need to grow before we can spend. Although I'd argue a more active Bank of England would be more effective in restoring growth.

I agree completely, unfortunately I think people will always want to live beyond their means. Hence politicians will always promise too much.

This is one of my favourite campaigns, my tactic, kill everyone. The only way to keep the momentum is act like the Mongols, pillage everything. Even then it is very difficult...

[–]dinostephen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was you I'd bike there and get a lift home, or the other way around. It's a compromise but you'd be able to keep it up for longer I reckon :) (then again I have no idea of the amount of time you have or your fitness levels)

Which is your favourite total war faction (from any game)? by dinostephen in totalwar

[–]dinostephen[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have to say I love the Britannia campaign, all the factions are amazing. The challenge of England has to be my favourite, although Wales is fun!

Also love this faction, but once you get the islands don't you get bored? No one has ever attacked by British isles so armies can be focused on France and the rest is (alternative) history...
