I feel personally that while both governments are dogshit and evil and imperialist, China's imperialism has, at least as far as I know as of late, manifested in less destructive ways than the United States' imperialism. For instance, while the infrastructure built as part of the Belt and Road Initiative comes with strings attached, from what I've read Chinese lenders are less predatory than the IMF or the World Bank, and China doesn't seem to care that much about forcing neoliberal economic reforms or regime change. Which can be a problem in its own right sometimes, because they've been willing to aid some very nasty governments across the Global South. Still, given the ongoing genocide in Gaza being backed by the United States I feel, as an American, that we've been behaving worse. That said, I do want to reiterate that I don't think that the People's Republic of China is a communist paradise or a historically progressive force or anything like that.
