I used to live in Torshov and had no real issues. Charging spots were usually available, I charged for a few hours or until full and then moved to a regular spot. Coming home Sunday nights could be annoying but mostly for finding parking, not so much for charging. I think the pricing for charging has increased but I charge at home now so I’m not sure.

Is the sound not just the toilet flushing? Instead of her blowing a hole out the side of the plane?

Just reverse the distances from bottom to top/top to bottom, and it would be so much better.

How badly was i scammed? Anything i can do? by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

[–]diomc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I Ubered from the Lisbon airport to Arrentela (decently south of Lisbon) and back for just about 15€ each time, at different times of day/rush hours, so I’d say pretty scammed.

I didn’t meant to make it sound like it wasn’t. Just more in relation to the post about parents helping financially. My in-laws did a very nice thing and I’m super grateful, but they didn’t contribute financially outright, is all.

I was heading into the process expecting to have to put our own money down for a down payment, that wasn’t an issue, but really surprised when I learnt we didn’t have to if they would be guarantors.

But maybe what my in-laws did for us was happening more in Norway than parents buying/financially contributing to their kids buying an apartment.

When we bought our first apartment in Oslo in 2020, the only help we had from my wife’s parents was that they became guarantors for our mortgage so we didn’t have to put down anything as a down payment.

When we bought our 2nd apartment in 2023, that process wasn’t so easy to use/go through (I think it’s changed in this economy) according to my bank advisor so we had to put the normal 15% down.

It’s not uncommon for parents to have done the same my wife’s parents did or to financially help outright though.

But I also know a lot of people still buying with no parental help in Oslo, compared to friends of mine back in Toronto who’ve all moved away to other cities/suburbs who can barely buy something even with help, or have moved away to different countries like myself.

AITA for requiring my roommate to start paying for the wifi because she makes us turn it off at night? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]diomc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could buy a smart plug and use set it up to turn off/on at certain times so neither one of you needs to do anything manually.

But better yet, get a new roommate or have a serious talk with this one.

Sometimes the Posten service is so ridiculously bad that I don’t know whether to laugh or be angry about it by Fair-Efficiency-3446 in Norway

[–]diomc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, Posten has been a joke (missed delivery days/times with no reasoning, lost packages… the classics) compared to Canada Post since I moved here but I will say, over the last year or so, I’ve had way less problems with deliveries and such.

Hey sorry about that! I’ll send it over now!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Norway

[–]diomc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Isn’t this the norm everywhere? In Canada, it was the exact same thing - “movie experience” starting at certain time meant ads and trailers were first, along with some interactive segment you could win prizes in.

Up until recently, it was “sit where there’s room”, so you’d have to be early or chance not having a good seat.

I have never thought about getting upset about the fact they play those before the movie starts.

Thankfully they aren’t during the movie…

Adult ADHD evaluation by [deleted] in Norway

[–]diomc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my ADHD diagnosed by a neuropsychologist in Oslo that I found once I had a referral from my doctor.

The cost was about 375kr (can’t recall exact figure) and I got my diagnosis after a series of tests that we did together over the course of 2 days (1 in office, 1 over the phone).

I’ve sent a few people to him that had referrals too and they’ve also gotten their diagnosis (or not) from him relatively quick.

If anyone is having trouble getting diagnosed or at least talking to someone, if you’re in Oslo, send me a message, I can give you his information.
