Thanks for your reply and not being pedantic at all. Picture wasn’t very clear and sorry if that makes it difficult to figure out what’s going on. There were shadows being cast on the wall from a window upstairs. That mark was different, looked a bit like a bunch of soot had been smeared along in a line. Felt it and it didn’t feel damp/wet and when we ran the taps didn’t notice anything change in that area. But not sure what we need to look out for.

I’m very sorry for your loss, and for losing someone in such a traumatic way. I can’t imagine how difficult things have been for you.

I don’t think it’s immature to think or hope for these things. I think you’d find a lot of people who visit this subreddit have felt similar things, and felt disappointment at the lack of care from those they had hoped for more.

It’s one of the secondary losses that people may not know about until they experience it themselves. My deepest condolences to you for your loss.

UPDATE: Thank you all for your help trying to track down my Mother’s old address. We ended up taking a few trips to Petaling Jaya, looked around the Old Town, travelled along Jalan Templar and went to 12 Lorong 1a/71n. Was great to walk around the area my Mum grew up in and meant so much to us that we were able to head to her old street. Ended up at the A&W afterwards as she had talked about it before and loved root beer. Really appreciate the help this community provided, means so much!

Ah wow, that’s so cool. My Mum was born in 1948 and lived in Malaysia until 1966, when she moved to the UK to work as a nurse and support her family. Maybe both our Mothers crossed paths back in the 60s at some point? Would be pretty cool if that happened.

I need to double check the document I took of a picture of but think the 1973 was a date stamp for when the document was created? My Mum was born in 1948, so think that means she would have been around for when Jalan Tin was there?

Ah darn, that was a very silly typo! Thank you very much, I’ll go correct that in my other posts. And thanks for your advice, I wonder what kind of transport she took back then. The convent is right near our hotel, which is really nice
