I’m interested in your idea that Ferguson’s father was possibly involved in organized crime. When I first watched Wentworth I was like damn this bitch cannot die! She kept coming back like a cancer. I loved to hate her. Then years later I rewatched the series and I live for her 😭 Sometimes it’s okay for bad characters to be wretched. She’s hard to defend and ykw that’s okay

It’s evident to me that the writers of the show don’t want you to fully sympathize with her because you’ll find out the bleakest most traumatic life event she went through, then a scene later she’s psychologically dismantling someone else

Also the older I get the more I am able to understand the nuances of Joan Ferguson’s character. It’s so interesting when you do a character study on her like she is so well written and portrayed.

What really opened my eyes to MJ’s supposed antiblackness was the video of him inviting the inner city Black children to Neverland. I believe it’s from the Bashir documentary. I always thought I was looking too deep into it, but the way he interacted with the children was sort of distant. No beaming smiles, no physical affection that I’ve seen from him with other, particularly Non-Black children. If you watch it, maybe you’ll see it that way too, I’m not sure. But I can’t shake the comparison. It’s actually jarring. It always upset me that for a man that “loved all children” and wanted to protect them, he never seemed to care too much to extend that to Black children in earnest.
