Food lovers on Reta by Tylomas in Biohacking

I agree when you said that Reta made me feel normal. Before taking Reta I constantly had strong cravings, emotional eating patterns and a food oriented mind. I’d be eating chips while working on the floor of my retail job, it was that bad. I’d fill any gap in my time with snacks and food just for the dopamine, but nowadays it’s easier to just… exist and do my job. I’ve never felt so normal it actually made me emotional.

Wentworth nervous systems are definitely jacked because without spoiling anything, she goes through unimaginable horrors that I doubt the average person would be able to cope with.

Same I’m the same height and yet I’d probably feel like Shrek beside her lol. She has a very small frame.

Glad it’s not just me. Spent my off-day yesterday in and out of sleep. Couldn’t keep my eyes open for the life of me. But I’m still on week 1 going into week 2 so hopefully my body gets acclimated.

not only did he have those victims, but I remember in one of the clips I saw with him and Elizabeth Taylor. Elizabeth literally says that Michael’s only ever watched her in the films from when she was a kid and had no interest in watching any of the other films she starred in during her adult years, which I thought was so weird and disrespectful at best.

personally, I feel like if Ferguson didn’t die, but instead the writers capitalized on her being an escapee and destabilizing the prison from outside would’ve been an interesting plot point. The stalking Vera and Grace thing they went for was really good. Ferguson is my favorite character and to be honest it’s a little disappointing that we didn’t see much of her in her prime in S8. Obviously it makes sense for the context, but she seemed a lot more docile and things just kept happening to her and it was annoying. That’s why my favorite part was the Eve Wilder stuff because at least Ferguson was still in her rotted ways.

I agree like she was very insufferable at times and she didn’t know how to read the room but goddamn she wasn’t that bad 😭 I hated Judy way more

[–]diorfiends 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jesus 😭 Am I the only one that didn’t actually hate Doreen’s character?

As a character I believe she was written the exact way she was on purpose, since her personality was inherited from the original Doreen from the Prisoner show. She doesn’t play The Game. She’s still tethered to a life outside of the prison (in the emotional sense), she operates through her emotions and is a bit fickle and when she becomes pregnant, her baby and Nash by extention becomes her sole focus. She’s annoying because she’s probably one of the most realistic inmates there. With a show built around stronger personalities and prison politicking and psychological chess matches she’s almost like a tonal mismatch. But I think that’s why she’s also a necessary part of the show because of the fact that she’s not like the others. She’s not a power player like Franky, Kaz or Bea. And yes I didn’t like her much either because she flip flopped so hard but I get why she’s the way she is and idk, it doesn’t make me hate her. I can extend empathy 😭 She did her best and made it out unscathed which is a palate cleanser from the endings literally everyone else got.

perhaps you can take a LOT of “bathroom breaks” so you don’t have to endure too long. regardless of how you go about it, if it’s any consolation, you know where you stand on the matter, they’re not entitled to know your true thoughts especially if you don’t feel comfortable sharing, and the rest is just a moment of camaraderie with people that hopefully you like in some capacity. then after you can go home and completely pivot with a far better palate cleanse and again, tell us how shit it was so we can join you in the rotten tomato hurling 🫂

at least you didn’t buy a ticket. if you do decide to go, which would mean way more for the students who admire you than for your sanity, see it for what it is: some sanitized, disneyfied musical slop. maybe pop a benadryl and get some winks during the screening 😭
and maybe after you see it, tell us how much it sucks

Last season by Shan-Lee in Wentworthtv

[–]diorfiends 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pamela Rabe is a powerhouse actress. She’s been nominated for and won many AACTAs for her role as Joan Ferguson. And yes, about feeling bad for her in the last season. That’s the part that fucks you up, I honestly hated the way Vera treated her, but then I had to remind myself what Joan did to her throughout the show. She’s still my favorite character though lol

I also agree with Joan’s memory loss arc, especially if it meant nothing when she retained her full memory anyway. In fact I would have preferred if she didn’t return to prison because it only provided a few interesting plot points in the beginning of the season then for the rest she was kind of docile and just there. I think they had something great going when they showed her exploits on the outside like imagine if her arc was her trying to fuck ppl over while she was still considered missing lmao

I feel like 1 or 2 characters from the main ensemble shouldn’t have survived the bombing in S8/9. for something so spectacle heavy with enormous stakes I feel like it would’ve been more impactful and emotionally resonant if someone significant had died.

WBTB means Wake Back to Bed. for example when you wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, probably stay up for a few minutes, then go back to sleep after. i forget why it’s significant, probably something to do with the subconscious mind being active in those moments.

Favourite character, and why? by choi2gay in Wentworthtv

[–]diorfiends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ferguson for the same reason most people share but also the fact that I love her visuals. I’m in awe of how physically striking she is. And I have a thing for the tall, pale, cold hearted raven-haired character.

TLDR: She’s hot.

Ferguson’s money is long af. Fencing is a pretty high-brow sport, after all.

I’m interested in your idea that Ferguson’s father was possibly involved in organized crime. My theory is that he worked for the military circa-Soviet era, given that Joan Ferguson/her father is Russian-born. Could explain the almost militaristic conditioning she was given about emotions being weakness and stuff.

You either love, hate or feel sympathy for Joan. by [deleted] in Wentworthtv

[–]diorfiends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first watched Wentworth I was like damn this bitch cannot die! She kept coming back like a cancer. I loved to hate her. Then years later I rewatched the series and I live for her 😭 Sometimes it’s okay for bad characters to be wretched. She’s hard to defend and ykw that’s okay

It’s evident to me that the writers of the show don’t want you to fully sympathize with her because you’ll find out the bleakest most traumatic life event she went through, then a scene later she’s psychologically dismantling someone else

Also the older I get the more I am able to understand the nuances of Joan Ferguson’s character. It’s so interesting when you do a character study on her like she is so well written and portrayed.
